    Raymarine Dome Re-installation

My 2020 Raymarine Quantum 2 was pretty straightforward. The cable connection is on the exterior underside of the unit and is the plug and twist lock type. The 2005 Furuno it replaced was a bit more involved and had to have the exterior of the dome removed so the cable connections could be...

    Scupper screen to prevent clogs?

My deck drains also get clogged up. In addition to the aforementioned blast em with the hose method, I carry a length of 3/8" flexible plastic tubing that bends with the curves of the drains but is rigid enough to work like a pipe cleaner for those really stubborn clogs.

ok - this is silly ... cup holders question

I've got to use the old style thick foam coozies on my 2005 265, the modern thin neoprene sleeves don't work but the thick ones fit perfectly. Originally sized cupholders also don't work well for the double wall tumblers (Yeti, RTIC, etc) but I did find these ring inserts that make them...

Battery Switches on if plugged into Shorepower?

I also run my DC only fridge pretty much all of the time on my 2005 265 Express and so I leave the switches on while in the slip and on shore power. I did replace the original onboard charger years ago, I don't recall the model but it was a 'smart' charger. Have been doing this for quite a few...

    265 Grady Express Helm Seat

No but I've often thought about it. I've not found a direct replacement but had seen a thread that talked about replacing the helm seat with the Pompanette Evolution series and made a note of the seat model as it looked nice and comfortable, not much wider than the originals but with flip up...

    265 express gauge panel...

I went Skunk's route. Used the old aluminum one as a template for the new panel from 3/16" ABS carbon fiber though I used a router to do mine. Replicated the switch panel in the same fashion using the old one as a template and cutting out the switch holes, the cutouts aren't pretty but they're...

    Where to put the phone

Phone goes in a RAM mount that's attached to the stuffing tube pipe that runs up into the overhead electronics box, it can be seen in the right side of this photo. It's a protected area and stays dry, easy cord length to a charging port, can be used in the bracket or easily grabbed if need be...

    raymarine quantum wireless radar

I run the Q24D to the Axiom Pro on my 265 using the wifi connection and have had no problems with it at all. Have not had any instances of lag or dropped signal.

New Boat Set-up - Mechanical or Digital 150s?

When I had a surprise repower (victim of the early 2000s dry exhaust corrosion problem) I tried to save where I could and kept the mechanicals from the original 225s for use with the new 250s. I've since driven other boats with the digital controls and while I love the power and performance of...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

Avoiding the actual vs calculated weight debate because I've never seen or heard of anyone getting pulled over to be weighed and so I think, potential insurance issues aside, that it comes down to what you're comfortable with - my old Suburban was 'rated' for my lightly loaded 265 on its...

    Enclosure storage

I like it! I'd built a frame with various arms covered in pipe insulation that the pieces would lay over but this takes up far less space. For you guys taking them off in the winter - I assume you're wrapping your boat? I don't, our winters just aren't that bad, so my curtains stay up over...

    Winless

Unfortunately, they were not and as the 500's gypsy was on the left, the 700 was on the right so the large hole where the chain/rode fed wasn't quite covered by the 700's footprint either. I filled the old holes and covered with a scrap piece of starboard that was both screwed and 5200'd into...

    Winless

Replaced the factory Horizon 500 on my 265 with a Lewmar ProFish 700 paired with a 22lb Lewmar Delta plow anchor on the end of 20' of 1/4" chain and have been very happy with it. Windlass has free fall and is far more robust than what it replaced.

    Mice !

I've had good luck using "Fresh Cab" in my garage and classic car to keep the critters away. Never needed it on my boat but thinking maybe I should start when I have it on the hard, just in case. My parents and a lot of their friends use it for off-season storage of their RVs and 5th wheels...

    265 Express Prop Question

Looking for feedback from 265 drivers running 4-blade props. Fished on a buddy's 228 recently and he unfortunately spun the prop on our way offshore in the morning, it was a pressed hub and not something we could fix. Got back in fine and the good news is that the local prop shop loaned him...

tips for a following sea on 265 express

From what was on the invoice: - Controller used was the Bennett EIC5000 ($426.93), I would have preferred the newer all in one unit but this is what they could get - Harness was the EIC201, 20' length ($103.70) - Indicators - 6BT501025000 ($47.19 ea, qty 2)

tips for a following sea on 265 express

Skunk, one minor clarification - as you stated, the 265 does have a special short actuator and you can't install the standard kit indicator sensors as they won't work. However, Bennett does make an indicator sensor specific for the 265 actuators, I went through my local GW dealer to source the...

    Side spreader lights

Lumitec calls it Timed Toggle Protocol (or something like that) and I believe they'll function with any style of on/off switch, when I first installed mine they were wired to the original push button spreader light switch that was part of the combo light at the helm and they also function with...

    Headliner Cracks

Very interested to hear what you find out. Was doing well with my 2005 until a couple winters ago when it was cold enough, long enough, that the little cabin heater I keep in the boat couldn't compensate and I now have cracks in the cabin and the head. Skunk, I hear you and agree that the...

    autopilot

Assuming you mean the whole kit, big ones off the top of my head are pump location and interface. Where you physically locate the pump will drive the hose lengths needed, would also consider planning for the ORB fittings regardless of where it goes, a lot of the a#$pain that came with my...
