    Installing Airmar B175Hw

In the first pic (tape) It appears to be a pick up about a ft forward of the transducer location (tape) But I dont see it int he other pics. That would only concern... Air bubbles might add some clutter to you on plane readings. I would come forward a bit. and no the hull shouldnt be...

    Grady Drive Question

I'll let you know in a few hours. Have to swing by the boat after work today. I don't think mine has those holes. Only reason.... It had water in the bracket that did not drain until I pulled the plug.

    Bilge pump wiring.

Thats what I was planning, just not what I typed... ;) Building a HDPE mounting plate to secure everything to. The pad in the bilge is tiny.

    Bilge pump wiring.

Makes perfect sense. Cant see behind that pump, or behind the forward bulkhead too see if they were connected. There is one forward and now 2 aft pumps.

    Bilge pump wiring.

While on the subject of bilge pumps. What is the point of the forward pump?? It's in the tiniest of compartments I've ever seen. Other than removing any water coming in from the anchor rode. Nothing else would drain into that compartment. Is that the only reason??

    Bilge pump wiring.

Im adding another hole and second bilge pump. Redundancy is important to me in this department. Any reason to wire the second pump to a manual/auto switch? I was planning on adding the second pump about an inch or 2 higher and only running the float switch (fused obviously). I like to...

    Mfd- transducers conundrum.

Nevermind.... I figured out a plan. LOL Just going to run both units at the same time. 3in1 into 1. Airmar into the other. Going to mount them on ball mounts to easily swap from boat to boat.

    Mfd- transducers conundrum.

Picking up a used Lowrance 9ti2. I run the same unit on my bass boat. The original plan was to buy another transducer, gimble bracket and power cord and just run 1 head unit and swap between boats. Can't drive both at the same time anyway. LOL. The Grady already has an Airmar P66 on the...

    2003 Gulfstream live well hoses/fittings

Good luck getting to those. I have an explorer. Same basic set up. My arms are still cut and bruised from replacing them 2 weeks ago. The drain fittings were installed before the cap was installed on the hull. There is no way to get to the nuts that secure the fittings. I ended up...

I might have to look into one of these. Full on windlass is too big of an expense at the moment. Girlfriend can't pull the anchor.

Mooring Tricks To Keep The Gulls Away

Years ago I had a motion sensor activated water sprinkler. Worked pretty well for the garden both bords and critters. I wonder if it would work if set up on the dock?? MIGHT be worth looking into. something like this...

    2020 Suzuki 9.9 kicker question

Were you flushing on muffs or the flush ports? Engine running or just water pressure. Some engines just won't pee on muffs. Its a combination of water pressure and air entering the system. Water pump cant build enough pressure to get it to come out. If on the flushing...

Stainless vs bronze vs Marelon, SS screws

Not to stir the pot, BUT Groco does make both stainless and aluminum raw water pickups, seacocks and strainers. I guess they do have an application, just not on my boat. ;)

Stainless vs bronze vs Marelon, SS screws

My raw water pick ups are bronze. Thru hull drains are all stainless. scupper are plastic..... for a reason. they will be getting replaced in a year or 2 when the transom gets replaced. Easier to just throw them away instead fo trying to clean. Replacements will likely be stainless...

    I/O to Outboard

I have not done it. I am not a fan of I/O engines. Had one on an old bayliner 20 years ago. pain in the a$$ to work on.... Hate the idea of rubber boots keep me afloat. The hardest part is going to be finding an outboard engine.

Chartplotter turning off when cranking Port Engine

Agreed, I'm guessing the MFD is not wired correctly (to the engine battery not the house) and likely a corroded connector is also coming into play. My Lowrance unit corroded right where the power connector plugged into the back of the unit. Luckily for me it was an easy swap out of...
