    bahama run questions

There are endless coves, bays, islets, etc where you can drop the hook and spend the night. Look for anchored sailboats! Using an anchor symbol, the good anchorages will be shown on your chart. For your very first trip, it can't get any easier than running across from Palm Beach (56 nm) and...

    New 2004 Marlin Owner

We've moved up from a 20 Grady, then the 25 Sailfish and have now enjoyed our 2001 Marlin for the past 8 summers, 15 Bahamas trips and nearly 900 hours on her. We had "dreams" of a bigger boat, etc but as I get a bit older, I realize that the Marlin fits really well within my/our needs. On two...

Read this if you have at least 100 posts:)

Perhaps some people ought to consider starting up their own web site with strict posting rules....... I just tend to skip past threads that don't interest me. Sort of like a long buffet line...... I hand pick only those things that I enjoy. Simple!

    Help..Marlin Owners fuel burn question

Mine's a 2001 with OX-66 250 EFI 2-strokes. I can stay on a plane down to about 18 knots (3300 rpm) but she runns better at 4,000-4,200 which gives me about 25 knots and about 25 gph burn. I just always figure on 1 nmpg. Sometimes it's .9nmp (full load going to the Bahamas) and other times...

    Honda EU2000

FEMA bought mine for me after Hurricane Wilma. We bought one two days after the storm and they later re-imbursed us for the $850...... back in 2005. A great machine! The first night, we ran two full size fridges for nine hours on one gallon of gas.

    sailfish power comparision

My 1994 252 Sailfish (with the Euro Transom) had 225 Ocean Pros. It was loaded with hard top, AC, etc and I could get about 37-38 knots (about 43 mph) out of her at 5,500 and trimmed out......

    draining fresh water

Flip on your water pump, then go fully open all three sink faucets. Flip switch off when the faucets start spitting. Add a cup of bleach to the tank and fill up with fresh water. This will stir the bleach around. Rinse and repeat as you wish. Always run your Sump Pump when showering or when...

    Hey Gary M.

You should do fine in your 232 since it's not only 23 feet long, but it has a nice wide beam. I did three trips in my 1993 208. Miami-Bimini, Ft Pierce to the Abacos (11 days with my Grady-Bunch) and Lauderdale-Freeport/Lucaya........ single 150. Only the Bimini trip was a solo boat trip, but it...

    Hey Gary M.

Just so there is no confusion........ I don't like using Ethanol and I wish that I did not have to mix them, but I try to do all the things that are recommended to keep fuel issues to a minimum. We are all lucky in that our fuel tanks are not fiberglass as that adds to the potential of problems...

    Hey Gary M.

Hi Bill....... glad that you enjoy my Bahamas postings and photos. I have been using both types of gas for years, on two Gradys with zero problems. The 1994 Sailfish had 225 Evinrudes and I ran it to the Bahamas from 2002-06. The 2001 Marlin has 2001 EFI 250s and the only fuel related problem...

wanted: storage ideas around 282 cockpit

If you do not have a genset, try this. On my old Sailfish, someone had built an empty box with no lid then dropped it into the bilge area, under the bench seat. Two stainless screws went into the bottom of the box and into each of the two stringers that the box sat on to hold it in place. This...

    Battery question!

2001 Marlin with 4 batts. Yesterday I looked in to see the tray of two of my batts had some water in them and a little on top of the batts. I touched the "water" and it burned so I knew it was battery acid. The batts are about 2 years old as is the Grady dealer installed onboard charger. I...
