Switching between Primary and auxiliary fuel tanks

That switches tank sending units. If you have ethanol fuel I'd run both engines off each tank. Do you have the Yam fuel management sys?

    Batteries

Do you use the battery tender eyelet permanent hookup or the alligator clips? I tried the tenders last winter with the alligator clips and got considerable corrosion. I was thinking of installing the 2-prong hookup and leaving them on the batteries all the time and plug the tenders in when I...

    Batteries

I've done it in the driveway in a test drum, can't imagine doing it offshore. Once you get past the initial compression stroke it's not too bad, like pushing a blocking dummy.

Another Fuel Tank and Fuel Line Question

Assuming they're not foamed in. Poke holes in the end of the hose and thread a piece of safety wire through that and the end of the new hose and pull through. Where are you and do you have a tank fabricator? I'm picking one up from Atlantic Coastal Welding in Jersey. They do great work.

Slimy fuel tank grime & wet bulkhead???

No,I use WD40 and a toothbrush, several applications and just wipe up the crude. I'm convinced those pie plates leak past the o-ring. Nothing getting past that caulk on the flange. I was thinking of going to the screw-ins but I don't think they sit flush like the pop-ins. I even grease up...

Slimy fuel tank grime & wet bulkhead???

Not familiar with the 306 but if those hatches come up, I'd pull 'em up and re-calk. I've replaced those pie plate o-rings a lot and they still seem to leak. Like the other guys, I leave everything open during the off season to dry out. In the spring, I clean the sending units, and top of the...

    2003 HPDI 250s

That's a good deal on those motors. Yea, these have been problematic but if you can head off the problems before they happen...great. The biggest problem being the fuel system. The first thing I would do is install 2-micron Racor fuel filters. Search THT Yamaha HPDI Mystery Filters. It's...

    Inline Water Separator Sizing OX66

I'd like to see this inside of one of these. Is there a safe way of opening a used one?

    Inline Water Separator Sizing OX66

Ethanol has the double whammy. The older, pre-ethanol, boats get that fine dirt that clogs low speed jets and HP pump filter and injector screens. I've never heard of a newer boat with this problem. The second problem is water entering the tank, as mentioned. I don't think any filter can stop...

    Inline Water Separator Sizing OX66

Late as usual, and totally disagree with the above posts. Injector screens, the VST HP pump screen, and VST regulator all use screens in the 2-3 micron range. The ethanol "scrubs" the gas tank creating black crud that passes through the 10 & 15 micron filters and usually clogs the VST pump...

    282 Sailfish props

4-blade props seem to make a huge difference with the walk-arounds. My cav plates are under water at plane, are yours? Seems to be a common problem with the heavy boats. The 4-blades raise the stern, improve fuel economy, but reduce top end speed. The Propgods will lend you props until...

Winter battery charging on the trailer

I am connecting to the boats' 30A twist lock using a female twist lock to male 110V 15-amp 2-prong w/ground adapter. It's definitely the main breaker. Everything has been off and it still trips on connection. I can climb on the boat and turn it on and it will stay on; it's just the initial...

Winter battery charging on the trailer

I'm incline to agree. Do you use alligator clips or hard wired pig-tails? Do they make a 3-bank charger? quote="Lt.Mike"]I trailer exclusively so when it's home between trips I have the batteries hooked up to Battery Tender Jrs. I just use a 50' heavy extension cord. The battery tenders are...

Winter battery charging on the trailer

Thanks Gents. It trips upon connection. I have a 8' extension hanging out from under the cover. I run a 50' extension from my garage and soon as I make connection I can hear the breaker trip. Where is a source for breakers? Thanks

Winter battery charging on the trailer

I run an extension and use a 30A twist lock to 110 male adapter. Usually charge weekly for 24hrs. Problem is my main breaker pops most of the time when I plug in the extension. Do I have a defective breaker?

330 express- 2002 Air Conditioning Problem

I would like to. Got a recommendation? Marelon doesn't make a tee like this and I've never been able to find anything in bronze. The Prestone tee is designed to take 220 deg water @ 15 PSI.

330 express- 2002 Air Conditioning Problem

Just seeing this and thought I'd add what I'm using for a tee. I use a tee from a Prestone flush kit for cars. Comes with several size tees and the cap end is a garden hose thread. The cap has a rubber gasket. I use this to flush the system with antifreeze after pullout. Yea, every season I...

    272 sailfish

The 4-blade props seem to be the way to go. I think they're $500-$600 each so guys that use their boats often will see a quicker payback. The Marlin is a real gas-hog with the 250's. A guy in my marina with '98 Marlin just got a pair and waiting to see his results.

    Engine Flush

Ok, who flushes with the hose attachment and engine running? Not recommended in the Yam owners manual but I think that's the only way to get all the water galleries. I'm betting they are CYA because there's always the knuckle-head that will wick the throttle and burn-up the water pumps.
