    F250 Rebuild Labor Hours

Harpoon, yes, factory powerhead in the box, certified Yamaha tech. I spend summers in Maine and the dealer is up there. Small town, don't need to publish anything embarassing. But Yamaha customer service was just like "oh well, these things happen". Not sure what tree to bark up at this...

    F250 Rebuild Labor Hours

Final tally was 35 hours. To recap, broke a piston last year with 2100 hours on the motor, no clear cause. Decided on new Yamaha powerhead versus a rebuild thinking it would be better for reliability and longevity. The new factory powerhead always burned some oil but with 250 hours started...

    F250 Rebuild Labor Hours

Thanks. I've spoken to Yamaha customer service and they've been rather unhelpful in saying I should ask my dealer.

    F250 Rebuild Labor Hours

Thanks guys, but looking for the labor hours needed for a short block rebuild according to Yamaha. I figure there must be a book of standard hours, like when your auto dealer quotes you 2 hours for a job.

    F250 Rebuild Labor Hours

Anyone know what Yamaha technical books estimate for an F250 short block rebuild? Or where to look for such info? My dealer tells me there's no such guideline which seems odd. Thank you

Was this a members boat? What Happened?

I second the need for a high water alarm. I use one from Johnson with no moving parts. http://www.spx.com/en/johnson-pump-marine/pd-marine-bilge-bilgealert-high-water-alarm/

    Help With Raymarine Plotter

I have the same unit (C80) and see all the details you describe on your friends' units. A couple of thoughts: 1. make sure you have the chart display set to Detailed or Extra Detailed. Setting to Simple will remove almost everything. Go to Menu > Cartography Setup > Chart Display 2. charts...

    2000 Marlin 300 re-power

Can't picture going with 250s these days when the 300s are lighter, faster and not much more money.

Overheat Alarm at Idle - F250

Well, I never got to checking the o-ring as the problem didn't recur. However, I did lose a piston and need a new powerhead. The rings on cylinder #5 either broke or got stuck resulting in lots of blue smoke and no power at RPMs over 3000. I'll know for sure once the old engine is...

Overheat Alarm at Idle - F250

Folks, Had my 2005 F250 serviced a couple of months ago. All the annual work was done but the tech said no need to replace impeller this year, looked fine. Since the service, my overheat alarm will sound after a couple of minutes at idle. Never happened before, good water stream coming out...

lead or zinc balls in hull help

The idea of intentional ballast seems odd in a GW. Could they perhaps be diver's weights? Many divers use the "soft" weight bags filled with small balls instead of the hard lead weights.

    Dry Tortugas via Key West

Getting ready for this year's trip to the Dry Tortugas. Last year was just way too much fun. We're departing Key West Saturday morning 5/24 for about a week. Anyone interested in grouping up for the trip over or back?

    Prop!

For the most real life data available, call Ken at the Prop Gods (http://www.propgods.com). Tell him what boat you have and how you use it and he'll recommend several good options. He will even let you exchange props if you're not happy with the first couple of choices. I have no connection...

    265 Express Pro's and Con's

Great boats, but the lack of cabin windows in all the express models is a big con for me. I often overnight in new harbors and it's nice to be able to see what's going on without having to leave the cabin.

New Anchor for 1995 272 Sailfish

We are big fans of Yale Brait. We carry 600' of 3/8 and 30' of chain over a 13# danforth. It was fun weaving the 8 strands into an anchor splice.
