Final tally was 35 hours. To recap, broke a piston last year with 2100 hours on the motor, no clear cause. Decided on new Yamaha powerhead versus a rebuild thinking it would be better for reliability and longevity. The new factory powerhead always burned some oil but with 250 hours started...

Thanks guys, but looking for the labor hours needed for a short block rebuild according to Yamaha. I figure there must be a book of standard hours, like when your auto dealer quotes you 2 hours for a job.

Anyone know what Yamaha technical books estimate for an F250 short block rebuild? Or where to look for such info? My dealer tells me there's no such guideline which seems odd. Thank you

I have the same unit (C80) and see all the details you describe on your friends' units. A couple of thoughts: 1. make sure you have the chart display set to Detailed or Extra Detailed. Setting to Simple will remove almost everything. Go to Menu > Cartography Setup > Chart Display 2. charts...

Folks, Had my 2005 F250 serviced a couple of months ago. All the annual work was done but the tech said no need to replace impeller this year, looked fine. Since the service, my overheat alarm will sound after a couple of minutes at idle. Never happened before, good water stream coming out...

The idea of intentional ballast seems odd in a GW. Could they perhaps be diver's weights? Many divers use the "soft" weight bags filled with small balls instead of the hard lead weights.

Great boats, but the lack of cabin windows in all the express models is a big con for me. I often overnight in new harbors and it's nice to be able to see what's going on without having to leave the cabin.

We are big fans of Yale Brait. We carry 600' of 3/8 and 30' of chain over a 13# danforth. It was fun weaving the 8 strands into an anchor splice.
