    A New Grady Owner (almost)

Congrats to the new Sailfish owners... :D Girt - the decal over the Duratrim sounds interesting. Can you post a photo? I'd also be interested in seeing a photo of what you did with the cabin floor. Cheers, -Scott

Swivel Rod Holders for Blue Fin Tuna

I got set up with four 0-degree holders up your way at Saco Bay Tackle Co. He had two brands, LD Marine, which a lot of folks in the "fleet" use and I like them because they have 4 bolts instead of 3 like the Lees, and another locally made brand which I bought that were considerably beefier...

2004 Marlin Repower to 300 HP Successful!!!

Nice looking boat. It is interesting how performance can go up and fuel use go down with increased engine size. It also will be interesting to compare these numbers to Tom T's (Sailfish98's) Marlin with the new G2 E-tecs once things get tuned it.

    Evinrude G2's / Marlin 300....Splash day!

On the issue of break-in, BRP says "With the new Evinrude E-tec G2, there’s no break-in period. no instructions needed, just hammer the throttle and go." I'm not sure I could do that to brand-new motors, however. I'd be tempted to go easy on them for the first few trips at least staying away...

    Evinrude G2's / Marlin 300....Splash day!

Wow - those look like Sailfish numbers, not Marlin numbers! I'm glad to see there is really some beef behind last year's G2 hype and am looking forward to seeing more...! Cheers, -Scott

    Etec or etec Help

I'd go with choice 2 as well but might be tempted to see what kind of a deal I could get on a G2. There was lots of excitement about them at the boat show this year and two dealers who sell both Yamaha and Evinrude told us that Yamaha is worried about them and putting additional pressure on...

    1995 Sailfish autopilot

My 94 Sailfish was equipped with a Simrad AP 12 when new and it doesn't have a rod that connects at the outboard. It connects to the hydraulic system somewhere under the helm, I believe. You could try doing a Google Image search on your specific unit to see if you can find photos or just...

    Portable jump starter?

I sort of agree with this and don't have one but there was one time where I wish did. It involved helping another boat on the water with a dead battery. I was returning to my slip around midnight and the guy flagged me over - he had killed his battery running his baitwell all night. First I went...

Gulfstream VS Pursuit 247 walkaround/255 offshore

X2 on the boat partnership. I did this twice years ago and it didn't work out either time. The first time was with my brother and we got along fine but the wives were the problem. The second time was with a friend and it spoiled the friendship for a while. The wives came in to play here too but...

    Battery hatch damage

The battery hatch on my buddy's Marlin had a fight with some ice and lost. :( There was ice behind the hatch that was not visible and when we pulled it open, the gelcoat was damaged. :-| Can you please remind me what the steps are for this type of repair? I seem to recall good posts on...

    Engine Repower

You might consider also the new Evinrude G2 E-tec. Everyone who sea-trials them raves about them and they are offering free rigging and 7-year extended warranty http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/promotion

Trying to decide what path to take. Older Grady or New CC

Re: Trying to decide what path to take. Older Grady or New C If you are thinking Offshore 24 or Explorer 24 it sounds like you like the walkaround style. I would think you could find a nice non-Grady walkround that if perhaps 5 years old with low engine hours for much less then your 50K...

    WOOD-LESS MARLIN

It's great that Grady is finally getting the wood out. An interesting side effect will be the price difference in the used boat market five or more years from now for wood vs composite Gradys. Like we talk about pre SeaV2 hulls, it will be pre-composite and folks on Hull Truth, etc., will say...

Grady White F26 walkaround info/help needed ASAP

Hi Eric, welcome to this site. I don't have any experience with that hull but want to make sure you know you can download past catalogs at gradywhite.com. You can get all the specs for that hull and any other Grady hull for any year. You can also download manuals. Click the Customer...

    Tournament 223 Repower

Your RPM variation in the 2800-3400 range isn't just the boat falling off or jumping on plane, is it? If so that might be normal (sort of). My Sailfish was falling off plane at low speeds when I first got and I "fixed it" by changing to a different style prop. I changed from a smaller diameter...

Yamaha F250 vs G2 Evinrude 250 HP ETEC

Ken - the E-tec G2's are too new so no one here is going to have one. You could try posting your question at the E-tec site: http://www.etecownersgroup.com/ which has a separate forum for the G2: http://www.etecownersgroup.com/?forum=377900 The folks there are very excited about the G2...
