Outside cleaning the teak I was able to wash the wood then let dry, the inside is going to be different. what do you do to keep...

Shadow, I am heading out of town for a couple of weeks but would like to get together and do some boating/fishing or even diving(just got certified last week). I have a project 240 as well, not much, mainly cosmetics. So I guess we are in the same "boat"!! Norm

    Old Decals

Have you tried a more aggressive compound? I had old letters that clearly showed because of the oxidation. I used the compound by 3M and now it is just barely visible. I may need to go over it again with the same compound. It was a huge difference from before. A power buffer will work better...

Re: Buffer Not sure what he used, but Makita makes a nice buffer/polisher with multi speeds perfect for this kind of job. I tried to do a section by hand and it was not as good of a job. With the polisher you can put more pressure without wearing yourself out in 20 minutes.

    Heavy Oxidation Removal

I am in the process of removing oxidation on mine as well. So far I am using the 3M compound and it is doing a great job. I am using a large Makita orbital sander/polisher with multi speed and it is looking shinier than I thought it would be. It is a chore to say the least but it looks really...

    Boat Graphics Removal

I used a heat gun. It has different setting for heat and made quick work of the decals. As noted trial and error. I found if you heat a section and start to pull a small piece, heat the the section in front you are about to remove and slowly pull up. You will be able to pull large sections at a...

    Teak

If you are looking to replace under the gunwale, it can be cut with a scrolling blade on a jigsaw and holes can be cut out with a hole saw. I have cut holes in it for counter tops. i do like the look of the teak even though it is a little more up-keep.

    Teak

I have not heard of Corian being used but I have worked with it on remodeling jobs. I use it for thresholds instead of marble when I tile. It is VERY tough with ability to bend quite a bit without snapping. I don't think it will expand and contract due to it's density, not to mention it is used...

    Teak

I have some exterior teak that needs to be done as well. I was asking around and someone said to use auto tranny fluid. Any one ever heard or tried? He said to put 5 coats on. He works in a boat yard and that is what they all use.It has a red tint that supposedly makes it nice. Not sure if it is...
