New Design and Forum Software Upgrade

Parthery - thanks for the tip about the "removing temp files" option. Since turning that option off, the autologin feature works for the first time. Not sure I would ever have tried that. Gary 93 Gulfstream

New Design and Forum Software Upgrade

Jeff, I'm slowly getting used to the new software but I too find it less appealing than it used to be. I think it's the squat, wide appearance everything seems to have. I also have color perception problems and the use of color in the narrow circle is very difficult for me to see. If the...

Voyager 248 - update - need surveyor in Two Rivers, WI area

Re: Voyager 248 power configuration I can't offer you any input beyond suggesting that you do some research on the Yami F225. It seems there is a corrosion problem in the exhaust system that Yamaha is not taking care of. There are a number of posts here on the issue and on thehulltruth.com...

    Thank you Brian - GW204!!!

Brian, I have a pair of Suzi DF140's. For those not familiar with the Suzis, they're the 140 HP four stroke motors. These, like the DF150s and 175s are in-line 4 cylinder motors. Gary 93 Gulfstream

    Thank you Brian - GW204!!!

I agree with both of you on the larger diameter but no one makes a 4 blade SS prop for my motor in a 14 inch or larger diameter. That's not quite accurate - I can't get the counter-rotating prop for the pair. I don't think I can fit more than a 14 1/4 under the cav plate. I never dreamed...

    Replacing floor drain 89 overnighter

No, it's open in there. You can see the hose from the broken fitting and the one coming forward from the fish box where it tees into that line and then goes to the thru' hull fitting. Gary 93 Gulfstream

    Thank you Brian - GW204!!!

My local Suzi dealer raised my motors today. He said they were mounted where they're supposed to be IF mounted on the transom. As you said, they were mounted too low. Had to wait until 7 PM tonight for high tide so I could launch it and try it out. What an incredible difference in...

    Deluxe Sliding Helm Seat

I think you're on the right track. That springs holds the rod engaged to the teeth. I'd experiment with ways to keep that rod from moving while under way. Also, take a look at the part that engages the teeth. Perhaps it has become tapered from the slipping. Good luck. Gary 93 Gulfstream

    Replacing floor drain 89 overnighter

I had to replace that drain on my 89 Overnighter, too. I gained access by taking the whole drawer assembly out below the seat. It's doable but not easy. Good luck. Gary 93 Gulfstream

    Removing Waterline Stains

I use a product called FSR - fiberglass stain remover- that I learned about here on GG. It does a great job on the skum line and even removes rust stains but that takes several treatments. Gary 93 Gulfstream

    2007 282 with F250s performance

I'm no expert but I'm going through the "finding the right prop" exercise right now. Among the things I've learned so far are that the motors are rated to turn in a range of RPM at full throttle (WOT). When a boat is lightly loaded (few people, less fuel, no ice and bait, etc.), you want your...

    Update on 93 Gulfstream issues

A few weeks ago I posted about some problems on my new-to-me boat. Since then I've spoken with several people about my props including Bay Propeller. Initially I was quite impressed by Bay - I'd called the Tuesday before the July 4th weekend and spent a couple of hours on the phone with them...

    trailering a 208 or 228

Your Yukon will handle all of the models you mentioned just fine. I towed my 204c with a Ranger 4x4 pickup and we tow my Gulfstream with my neighbors Suburban. It handles the Gulfstream beautifully. Since it's 9' 3" wide, we should pull permits but we haven't yet. Probably will when we make...

Need recommendation for finisher to do minor hull repair

I'm no expert but I had an open crack in a repair right at the water line on my old boat. When I spoke with a repair guy, he said that water can infiltrate the fiberglass and cause more cracking/flaking. Also, it would have to sit for some period of time to dry out before he could do the...

    Spots on deck

Like Seasick says, a rag works better than sponges, etc., but I've found that microfibre cloths work best on non-skid surfaces. In fact, I use them for most all my cleaning chores. Gary 93 Gulfstream

Need recommendation for finisher to do minor hull repair

I buy most of my Grady-specific parts from them but use local people for service. I've heard nothing but good comments about service and support from Southeast. They've treated me very well. Parts guy is terrific. Gary 93 Gulfstream

    dual engine w/ 4 batteries

I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is the alternator output at trolling speeds. It's not very much so you could be using more than you're producing. Before you go to a lot of trouble I would suggest hooking up some test equipment to see what you're generating and what you're using. Gary...

Need recommendation for finisher to do minor hull repair

Give Southeast Marine, the local Grady dealer, a call. They gave me the name of the fiberglass person they use a couple of years ago but I can't find it now. Gary 93 Gulfstream
