I installed an 8 foot Shakespeare 5225-XT, 6 db antenna gain paired with a Standard Horizon Explorer GX-1700 VHF radio on my GW Tournament 205 and get very good coverage. I soldered my connector. The antenna cost $112.
Problem fixed. I started out checking all connections and found some corrosion on my 40A breaker which feeds my buss behind the helm that the chart plotter gets power from. I cleaned both terminals and applied a thin coat of silver conductive paste on all parts. The chart plotter no longer...
I purchased an aluminum 2019 Venture VATB-5225 with brakes on both axles for $3,400 for my tournament 205. I slip my boat and occaisionaly tow and store in the winter so I went with a bunk trailer. Very happy with the trailer.
I did not know there were dual purpose batteries, I thought there were only two, cranking and deep cycle. My batteries are new so I will adapt them with a solution. Thanks for the feedback.
I found this as a solution to keep my chart plotter from rebooting on the Raymarine forums that I am considering. It is a momentary 12VDC UPS that provides 12V only during cranking. This will allow me to alternate between battery 1 and 2 on subsequent trips and always have a backup battery to...
I all, I have (2) Interstate deep cycle marine batteries (new this spring) connected to my rotary selector switch. I alternate using battery 1 and battery 2 every trip, charging system working. The chart plotter is wired to the main power buss (7.5 amp fused). When I restart the engine...
I purchased these a couple of years ago to cover my captains chair and back to back lounger when boat is slipped and have done a good job at protecting the seats from sun and bird poop.

I bought these refills on Amazon for my 2007 Tournament. You have to cut them to length and reuse the SS strips. It took me a while to find the right ones, these worked.

I have a 2007 205 and 100% agree with other posters, hold out for one with a 200hp motor. It took a long time to find the right boat but my patience paid off. The 205's are a very popular size and get scooped up quick. Have you tried searching multiple craigslist listings using searchtempest?
Just went through this with my 2006 F200, inlet filter on the fuel pump located in the VST tank was dirty, injectors were ultrasonically cleaned and the filters in the injectors were replaced. I was limited to 4,000 rpms before the work.
Every season I stick a garden hose in the bilge and fill it with water (boat on trailer tilted up) and wait for it to operate off the float switch. Can you do this?
