    Radar Question

Radar and AIS a must. I always run my radar overlay on the map. I would not leave the dock without it. Busy freighter lane in between the Channel Island and the fog gets super thick. It's really worth the comfort safety.

    Repower a Sailfish 282

Hi Edw, I have the same boat, 2001. with the same motors. Let me know what you do. The biggest concern is weight and keeping the scupper plugs above the waterline. Some guys modify the scupper plug area to accommodate a larger motor

    Cracked aluminum on hardtop :(

Did you have to pull the wires to prevent them from melting? I want to install some rod holders (welded). I was warned about melting issues.

Looks clean. Is the kicker motor connected to the main outboards (steering)? What kind of mount are you using? Thanks

ABRUPT STALLING AT ABOUT 3700 RPM

Yes, I swapped the lines at the motor end of the bulbs. The fuel filter is properly secured. The motor doesn’t die. The rpms start to die down and drop to 1000 rpms. Full throttle and it stays at 1000 rpms. No difference if it’s running at 2000 rpms or 5000 rpms. But mainly does it at higher...

ABRUPT STALLING AT ABOUT 3700 RPM

I replaced both of them. I really thought that was the problem. When I removed the old filters, they sure looked clean. Problem still persist. Randomly

ABRUPT STALLING AT ABOUT 3700 RPM

I swapped the gas lines from motor to motor at the bulbs to confirm that it's not a fuel delivery issue. The problem was still with the same motor.

ABRUPT STALLING AT ABOUT 3700 RPM

I'm having a similar issue. I have twin 2001, 200 yamaha 2 stroke with 550 hours on them. At high RPM's the port side engine would bog down to 1000 RPM's and appear to be starving for fuel. Even at full throttle there is no difference. I swapped the gas lines and the same problem was happening...

    1989 gulfstream motor tilt

I was having the same issues. Check and see if any fluid is coming from the top of the shaft, coming out of the dust seal. I just rebuilt the tilt piston. No more oil slick and the motors raise and lower smoothly. Good luck

    VHF Radio

ICOM M506 with AIS Its a little over your budget. But so worth the money. With AIS connected to your head unit. You can track commercial boats. The fog gets thick out here. Just a little bit more insurance and safety.

    Losing RPM

Hi have two Yamaha 200 2 stroke. Same issues. As mentioned earlier. It's the VST filter. Losing RPM's at higher RPM's. The motors are starving for gas. Replace the Racor filter, the gas filter and the VST internal filter. Some models have 2 filters inside. Yamaha outboards have a Vapor...

    Polishing Buffing tool idea

Harbor Freight rotary 7" unit. Like Max says, it sure has power. And Im not one to buy power tools from Harbor Freight. But I took off all the striping of the boat and with rubbing compound and a sponge pad. I clean the area, then polish with cleaner wax. After that some Ultra polish. Looks amazing

    Transducer placement 282 Sailfish

This transducer was only available in SS. It's a combination transducer. Fishing the west coast. Sometimes in 25', 100' or 300' deep. I also want to go in to 1500' deep for swordfish. Capnjim, I think the the transducer without the faring block will fit in the mounting indents. My concern is do...

    Transducer placement 282 Sailfish

I'm installing the "Furuno SS260 Multi-beam combo transducer". A portion of the flat area has a slight curve with less surface area. Does the fairing block fit. Or does it have to get contoured to the shape of the curve for it to fit. Just bought my boat Sailfish 282 from Cape Coral had it...
