    Can My '97 G/W 192 be Waterlogged??

First of all, your boat may not have any significant water intrusion, in which case, "it's all good," and my comments are purely academic. If, on the other hand, your boat is waterlogged, then my comments are directed towards the "red flag" which was presented to you upon your inspection of the...

    Can My '97 G/W 192 be Waterlogged??

Why would you believe that statement inasmuch as the boat has bottom paint, which is only required for boats which are stored in the water? Believing that was a big mistake, HUGE. Strip the paint and see what happens. Change props if still necessary. Rebuild the entire boat???? There's a thread...

    Who is right?

Right or polite, that's the distinction I see. If you had slowed and thrown a wave with your hand instead of your boat, I bet you would have gotten a nod of appreciation and a friendly gesture back at you. Instead, you got a flared temper and a little tantrum. You didn't have to slow down for...

    Sailfish 25 with twin 150s

I have a two sets of ground tackle, but only carry one at a time. One has a lot more chain and a bigger anchor, so the weight difference is substantial. I also carry a portable generator in the cabin. There's a 30 gallon fresh water tank that can be full or near empty, an overabundance of...

    Sailfish 25 with twin 150s

New 2005 F150's repowered my 1987 Sailfish 255. I get a 1.8 nmpg average. I run my boat heavy for the comfort factor. Loaded I cruise at 18 - 21 knots depending on conditions. I don't suppose I can get much more than 30 top end. If I strip the weight off and run it w/o any fuel to speak of and...

AFT Bilge Float Switch Wiring (need help)

The first float switch lead is joined (spliced or bus bar) into the positive lead from the pump and the second float switch lead is connected (eventually) to a positive battery terminal. The specifics for the second lead vary depending upon the complexity of the rest of your bilge pump set up...

    Is this enough trailer?

My trailers have always been 10,000# custom made steel (both paint and galvanized) bunk trailers, so that is my perspective. Since steel bends, but rarely cracks, it is more durable than aluminum, which tends to fracture if subjected to excessive loads. If you accept that premise, then any...

1987 25ft sailfish fuel tank leaking

I replaced both of those tanks on my 1987 Sailfish and there are pictures here on this site. I had mine custom made locally because I required removal and installation. Florida Marine Tanks made the originals and they are still around to make them for you.

    camping canvas for 1986 sailfish

Looking at my 1986 brochure, factory options for the Sailfish included (1) Folding top & side curtains w/ boot, (2) Drop curtain, (3) Helm station cover, (4) Covers for pedestal chairs, (5) Hardtop curtains. A photo of an "Aft curtain" is shown as a factory option for 19s only. This may be what...

Read this if you have at least 100 posts:)

Now I'm really confused. Are you in the boat or outside the boat? For the sake of clarity, I simply refer to my motors as "this one and that one."

Play in hydraulic steering while underway

You don't say what you have, but my experience relates to Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic steering. The first step would be to simply top off the helm and see if the steering becomes satisfactory. If not, top it off again if the fluid level has again become low after some use. Bleeding the system...

    Trailer size

5200# trailer axles are standard equipment on dual axle trailers, which are usually conservatively rated as 10,000# trailers. Whether that would be enough for your boat is another question. If it isn't, you're looking at a 3 axle trailer.

Really stupid question about Aux. switches.

Every boater has different needs, so I don't think there are any uses which would be considered traditional, but on my boat, the AUX switches control my bait pump (for an auxiliary live bait tank) and my spreader lights.

    Fuel Tank/Fuel Lines Replacement

The boat's stringers run longitudinally, affixed to the bottom of the hull, underneath the fuel tanks. They are not directly involved in the replacement of the fuel tanks or fuel lines. What is involved is the starboard side bulkhead which forms the starboard side of the fuel tank compartments...

    Gas Tank Capacity Problem

The original factory installed aluminum FMT's in my Grady held the advertised capacity ... EXACTLY. I think you need to measure the depth of the tank and compare it to the length of the pickup tube.

Overnighter Fuel Tank Replacment Installation Question

The rubber strips are essential to guard against chafing. New material would be nice. My tank fabricator installed the rubber strips using rubber cement to hold them in place on the bottom of the tank, but depending upon the particulars of your install, you might have to affix the rubber strips...

Very nice! I'd like to see a picture of the backside of the new panel if you have one. Thanks.
