    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

I imagine I will be looking at the repaired area every trip for awhile.

    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

Great to hear!!!! I think that is sooo awesome to have a boat the size and capability of a Marlin, and be able to move it cross country on our own. That alone just saved me thousands of dollars being able to take the boat to a glass shop vs have it hauled and a glass man work remotely. I know...

    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

Photos as promised. If anybody needs good glass work done in Key Largo, I will recommend All Aboard Fiberglass Repair all day long. Great people!

    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

Ok good news... All is well :). I will post pictures when it stops raining, but my amazing fiberglass guy cut out the generator platform and worked forward. Crack did not go too far and appears to be the result of either contamination in the area during original layup or just not enough glass...

    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

Scott, thanks for chiming in here. All Scott says is correct, view is looking aft. Hopefully I will hear something today. Fiberglass guy was going to grind everything down and get a good look before he started to re-glass mat back in.

    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

All is original from Grady, no repairs. The plywood platform is for the generator which was removed. Grady called this morning, they did not have much concern about the small seem of mat pulling up, but were perplexed with the crack between the stringer and hull. They said it probably just...

    Stringer seperation in 2004 Marlin

So clearly I have an issue here. You are looking at a crack (separating from hull) in one of the the stern port side stringers behind the generator platform, just forward of the transom. We noticed it after doing some work in that compartment. I poked a screw driver into the crack and could...

    Eisenglass??

Thanks for the replies gents!! So its Eisenglass, I consulted with the last owner.. Went to West Marine... Used price match (new policy there last year, they will match any price you can find online) purchased some Plexus, it really helped!! This is the one area I will say I miss my pilot...

    Eisenglass??

Gents, Can you school me on the care of Eisenglass/Strataglass?? I have to admit, prior to buying the Marlin this year, I owned mostly pilot house or CC style boats and have never really cared eisenglass before. I ask because we were out last night trolling (got skunked) and noticed that the...

Happy New Year, transom aluminum removed and glassed over :)

Thanks guys. My part in this venture was to write the check! I suspect they don’t do it at the factory because I would expect some spider cracks due to the forces in that area. Thanks for the advice on the genny... I am bummed about the Fischer Panda not working out, but hey it’s a boat. If...

Happy New Year, transom aluminum removed and glassed over :)

Happy new year guys. Thanks to the advice of you guys here, I had my crappy aluminum strip removed and transom glassed over when I was getting a new bottom (soda blast, multiple new epoxy barriers, and new bottom) done. I did not put a nice cover on it, but plan to do that when I repower in a...

    Tom McGow, Tabman passed.

I spoke with him several times when I owned my Parker. Amazing man, never charged me a dime for his advice. It is sad to see good people go. My condolences.

    New (used) Marlin traile

Thanks! The cap is 17k gross, so not the 6k axels I wanted, but more than adequate..... especially for what I paid :). I don’t have to trailer it very far, and the plan is to pull her out every 5-6 weeks for a few week or so to gas up, clean and service. Ramp is John Pennekamp :).

On Board Battery Charger, Seafarer 226

I will second the Genius charger. I bought the 4 bank version on amazon, it’s always plugged in, is ignition protected and works flawlessly.

    New (used) Marlin traile

I was fortunate to find a good deal on a used boat trailer from a dealer that just sold a Marlin and buyer did not want the trailer :). Picked it up a few days ago and hauled the boat. Only issues were a broken bow eye bolt on the Marlin that I had to replace (lost a few bolts in the tight...
