I replaced the head in 06 282 last year. I have the manual head, replaced with the same. Basically a plug a play item, took about 45 minutes start to finish.

Rolling up your curtains helps reduce the "sail" effect if there is any wind.

On my 2006 282 I replaced the helm speakers with JL Audio and added a JL amp last year. Big difference. Speakers fit in the same holes and the installer located the amp behind the microwave. Extremely clean install. Would have liked to replace the head unit, but it was not in the budget.

At what location on the wheel does the knob do best...3,6,9 or 12?

I use it to pull the nozzle out of it's compartment.

What information did Pompanette need if any?

Re: Just purchased a 2011 GW 300 Marlin Congrats on the new ride and engine package. I have a 282 Sailfish with F250's and couldn't imagine the boat with any less HP or them on a Marlin. Sounds like a great set up. Just a little jealous.

Bill, I have an 06 with F250's, my personal observation would be that those boats are underpowered. What is the price point you are trying to stay at?

I have a 2006 Sailfish, where is everyone locating their stereo amps? I currently have the factory installed Kenwood and would like to add an amp and new speakers, but want the amp tucked away. Any ideas for it's location?

I trailer mine on a Roadking RKAV 26-28TRB with Elec/Hydraulic brakes on all six wheels. There are better trailers made, but this one has done the job.

You will love it! Might take a few seconds to get used to the bigger boat. Well, maybe a minute or two. Happy hunting!
