1990 230 Gulfstream Info for new owner

This is the first time I've seen this post also. On my Gulfstream, my RACORs are mounted on the portside wall of the transom well. I have fuel shutoffs in the port lower battery compartment, the fuel feed lines then run out to the RACORs, then loop back into the compartment to fuel flow sensors...

    Gulfstream Depth Finder Options

OK,here's the measurements of the ducer location. The center of the ducer is 10 1/2" forward of the transom, and approximately 11" from the center of the keel on the STBD side (measured from the outside of the hull). The approximate distance from the keel is because the keel is rounded and I...

    Gulfstream Depth Finder Options

I installed an Airmar B60-20 thruhull ducer right next to the aft bilge pump on the Stbd side forward of the transom. I have it connected to a Lowrance LCX-37C, and have never broke lock with the bottom, with speeds up to 45 mph, and trolling in up to 6-7 footers. In Lake Erie, I have marked...

    Potential 1988 232 Gulfstream owner

That's a 230 Gulfstream (open transom). I have a 1989, same boat. Headsea can be a little bumpy... helps a lot to drop some trim tab when heading into a 3-5' chop. I replaced original '89 175hp Mercs with twin 2003 150 Merc EFIs. Top speed is 45 mph, and best fuel flow is 2 mpg. I don't see a...

    lost 1 engine, possible repower

It's attitude like this that benefits Merc fans like me (I'm not mad... I appreciate what you do for my wallet  ). In late 2004, I bought one year old twin Merc 150 EFIs for $7,800 with guages, cables, harnesses, and new SS props. They were, and still are spotless and running sweet. The...

    Gulfstream Measurements?

Height of the garage door is going to depend on what you got up on the hardtop. I had to build my garage with a 13' 6" clearance due to a radar antenna riser that was tall. I subsequently had the riser lowered, and my boat now stands somewhere around 12' tall on the trailer (could measure it if...

    Considering a 232 gulfstream or a 282 sailfish

I fish my Gulfstream from Geneva to Conneaut without any problems. Yes, mine will pound a little in three footers and above on the nose. However, mine is also pre SeaV2. A SeaV2 Gulfstream should be very nice in Lake Erie. The twin engines make it really manueverable, and I used my boat in the...

How many Grady owners carry spare props on board?

I have twin Merc 150 EFIs with Flow Torque hubs in the props. I carry extra plastic sleeves and the tools to change em out.

    Bilge Pumps

Yep, that's what I said. And you do need them to be fuzed.

Another Bildge Pump Stuck Help! Question

Probably a bad float switch. I would replace it.

    Bilge Pumps

Bilge pump wires are brown or brown/white. I can't remember if mine were wired direct to the battery, but I have since got them wired to the Perko switch post that the battery cable goes to to eliminate some of the wiring to the batteries.

Thank You WorkDog and Richie Rich.Fuel tank advice.

Glad to be of help Reel. I learned the access hole trick from somebody else who went through the same. Refurbing the covering boards shouldn't be that difficult. There are tips in how to go about this in previous posts which you could do a search on. One thing to think about though; if you build...

    fuel fill hose changeout

In my case I had to cut the access hole. Couldn't remove the "filler necks" without the access hole. Cutting the hole with a rotozip wasn't that difficult. Can't remember, but I think I cut the hole to fit a 6" access plate.

Big Airmar tilt FF thru hull ducers

You're welcome! So, you finished the project? That was a lot of fun, no?

    Fuel Line Replacement Advice?

In my Gulfstream, where the fuel lines went through the aft bulkhead they had siliconed the living hell out of the hole on both sides. I assume the same thing in your 265. You will need to remove the silicone before you can pull the fuel lines through... this means pulling up the deck board...

Install Swim Platform on 89 Gulfstream with twins

I have a small swim platform on my portside with a two step ladder that flips down or when up lays on the swim platform. The ladder is hinged to SS brackets screwed down to the top of the swim platform. The swim platform can be removed by pulling a pin on each side and lifting it off the brackets.

    Sealent

Well, you can try to find a hospital grade silicone, but the GE II for bathrooms is just as good for the application. I've had my silicone in for 5 years since I last had a deck panel out and it is like I just recently put it down. No mildew at all. None.

    Sealent

Negative. It's the Almond color GE II silicone... a perfect color match.
