Sealent

Yes, I found a old posting that gave me the color and type, thanks. On a related subject, the sealant on my new 283 attracts/grows black mildew. I can clean it off with Clorox but it keeps coming back. I once purchased a tube of GE silicone that was mildew resistant for a shower room. Anyone have any idea if GE sells a mildew resistant marine caulk?

Well, you can try to find a hospital grade silicone, but the GE II for bathrooms is just as good for the application. I've had my silicone in for 5 years since I last had a deck panel out and it is like I just recently put it down. No mildew at all. None.

The bigger question is...why are you getting mold in an exposed to atmosphere area in the first place? Deck Hatches? The sun should be all over that!

Maybe had water under it before aplied?????? Just thinking out loud.

Why is the mold showing up?? I don't know but it is showing up on the factory installed silicone and once cleaned will come back in about two weeks. I was keeping the boat in my warehouse but have brought it to the coast since summer has started. It will be in the sun most of the time now so I will see if it comes back.

This is Louisiana, the humidity is hardly ever below 60% and most times above 80. Warm and moist and lots of pollen falling this time of year. What better growing conditions for mold.
