    Trolling plates

My trim tabs all the way down, and motor up as far as I care to raise it (while running) only accounts for about 3/10s of a knot reduction in speed. If you put a rope on the back of the bags, tied off to the rear cleats, you can pull the bags up with little effort. The rope back there also...

    Trolling plates

I've got 100s of trolling hours on my 150s. Just ensure you decarbon every 50-100 hours.

    Trolling plates

Skip the trolling plate, especially for saltwater (the screw holes will corrode in the anticav plate). I would recommend instead some trolling bags which you can purchase from the following site: http://www.amishoutfitters.com/catalog2.htm You typically use two bags, one per side, tied off to...

White Monkey Fur and Blue Carpet Replacement?

What is this "Monkey Fur" you guys talk about? In my 89', on the ceiling in the cabin, I have a shortnap loop pile cream colored carpeting. Is that it? I think that looks fine (at least in my boat). What looked bad in my Gulftsream was the blue sidewall carpeting. When I had my bulkheads out to...

    1988 Grady 232 Fuel Tanks

I've got an '89, and when I had to replace a fill hose several years ago I pulled the main tank to give it a look see. I had to sawzall about a half inch around the opening (after I pulled the panel directly over the tank). I mostly emptied the tank of fuel, then putting straps under both ends...

    Gulfstream Helm Console Upgrade

Bokat, I was an F-111D & F-111F WSO. Two tours at Cannon and two at Lakenheath. Yes, we pulled G's  Maybe too many ham-fisted pilots...

    Deck Plates

Tempress sells screw in and snap in deck plates of the correct size and screw alignment; ivory is a perfect color match. I last bought screw ins on e-bay for about $6 each in 2006.

    Replacement parts

Measure the diameter of the holes. If they are 1 1/4", that size brass tube is not sold in a West Marine (they only sell 1" and smaller dia). You'll probably have to buy them at a Grady dealer like I just did. Mine cost about $12 apiece for a 1 1/4" X 3" brass tube. Some folks buy plastic snap...

    Gulfstream Helm Console Upgrade

Thanks all for the comments. With some back and neck damage from my flying days, I really needed tilted units so I didn't have to bend over and tilt my head up to see the screens clearly. I'm only 6' 1" but this relief has helped immensely, and really aids in a good crosscheck of instruments...

    Gas Tanks - help

I wouldn't consider it just a patch repair. The tank is completely encased in two layers of fiberglass. The reason I originally pulled the tank is because of a leak in the fuel fill hose. Figured that while I was in there anyway...

    Gas Tanks - help

Tell me if this was sensible. I pulled my main tank two years ago, and after cleaning it well, I epoxied two layers of woven roving on to it before I put it back in the boat. Pitting was shallow, so I decided to reuse the tank. The fiberglass that is visible is still firmly bonded to the tank...

    Highway towing a GW 23ft.

If you are talking about a Gulfstream, I have towed mine between Ohio and Virginia with no issues. Down in the keys you may get pulled for a wide beam, but anywhere else it's not likely. I'm sure I will hear it from those who would not trailer an 8' 7" boat, let alone a 9' 3", without wide load...

    Through hull fittings.

Do a search here on thru hulls. There is a LOT of information on that. As far as detaching plastic thru hulls, I had luck with a dremel and cut wheel; cut just inside the face of the thru hull from the outside of the boat. The thru hull will easily come apart without having to mess with...

Grady Gulfstream - twin vs. single outboards

Haven't ridden on a newer model, but my 89 Gulfstream with twin 150 EFI two-strokes are superb. I get 2.0 mpg at best cruise, and 45 mph WOT. I've been told, at least with my Mercs, that the 150s have better holeshot and low end performance than the 200s (the 150s and 200s have the same size...

    Gulfstream Helm Console Upgrade

Outnabout, This wasn't a really difficult project, just very time consuming. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time at the moment with work and some family medical issues. Another thing is, the hole sizes for your instruments. It was much easier for me to cut those holes before I epoxied...

    Gulfstream Helm Console Upgrade

First time I'm adding pics to a thread here, so here goes. This past May, I refurbed the electronics console in the helm of my Gulfstream. I didn't like having to look under the flip up door to see my electronics, so my plan was to flush mount new electronics. But, I wanted an option where I...

    Trophy Pro Washdown

Re: Port I usually fish Geneva/Bula/Conny from Jun thru Sep. Yep, we could get together. I talk with a bunch of folks to home-in on the Walleye location. That area is great from Jul thru Sep. I was thinking of trying the reefs out in Mar-Apr also this year. If you aren't on the site already...

Took Factory Tour last Friday - WOW! - Incredible!

You're a cruel ba$turd Brian. For SE and NA, did you think for a second this was THT??? Well, here you go: I love my Grady, I realize I spent way tooooo much for the POS, but now that I'm stuck with it (for the past 10 years) I have to justify to the world (with irrational...
