If you repair or replace the genny....and then not take the time to run it every month the new or repaired old one will not run very long....I like the guy with 800 hrs. on his he never has a problem because he keeps using it....USE IT OR LOSE IT.

I think your 275 is too heavy to use a power pole....check out this link to power pole http://www.power-pole-anchor.com/ the site says it can be used on boats 26' or 3600lbs the 275 does not fit. :welcome

The F225s Do have a poppet valve...it's buried that's why you have not found it...it should be serviced every two years...in salt water they will eventually stop working...then it's a ticking time bomb.

The slow jets in the carb are clogged...you need to replace the slow (idle) jets...but while you are there....replace the mixture screw and all the gaskets and o-rings...the motors are 12 years old...have you ever had the carbs rebuilt?

Towing will be no problem if you get the boat far enough back....make a harness like you would use for skiing....let out enough line to get the boat in the 'Sweet spot" of calm water and try it out....we tow my 17 Montauk all the time....try it on a calm day first...if it's big it gets nerve...
