    boat does not idle

Very doubtful it is the shift interrupt ... I've only seen one fail in my life and it was 'sticky' due to over and MIS application of BoeShield T-9 spray, which should NEVER be applied to any moving part IMHO. Static parts - OK, but nothing that moves. That puppy sounds like she needs a tune...

Yamaha tilt-support - do you use?

FWIW my brother has twin Yam 150s ('88 models) and he uses the mooring locks all the time. No issues with them or the trim system. He does not retract the rams when the OB is up. These same engines turned screws for 51+ mph this season and he's getting 2.6 mpg @ high 20s, almost 30mpg...

    Overnighter Custom Project Pics

If you leave your boat in SW for any length of time ... ouch ... you shouldn't have used SS thru-hulls. Marine bronze is the best choice there. Otherwise, FANTASTIC work! I just wouldn't want someone to copy your thru-hull install without beiong forewarned ...

    Canvas for 225

Hey there, I just joined GG last week and put a deposit down on a 225G (full transom) on SAT. My new (to me) GW came with the Vista curtains (front & sides) off the bimini top and I'm going to add the straight down backdrop. My reasoning ... keeps the stern open for fishing, even though out...

    2011 GW 225 Motor Question

But isn't the Yam F250 itself not a 'true' 250hp motor without running 89 octane fuel?

    Outboard Motor Shaft Length

Performance @ speed will suffer due to so much drag and it can make the hull squirrely in turns. IMHO you'd be better off buying or making a mini-jackplate, with not much setback if any, to raise the OB that additional height up off the transom. Remember, small boats are VERY sensitive to...

    Throttle Troubles

I'd bet $$ you have wingnuts on your battery or poor connections there or the ground lug to the trim/tilt motor is poor. Poor grounds cause the far majority of intermittant or phantom electrical issues with 12 volt DC systems, and can even 'rob' the hot side - causing interupptions like you've...

Joined this GW site ... now to buy the boat!

Step 1 complete – I joined this site … Step 2 – Time to find my ideal ‘next’ boat and am seriously considering a GW To introduce myself I live in New England and have been boating for 45-something years and I’m not too much older than that. My Dad used to buy old boats and fix them up, so...
