How to open dome lid on courtesy spreader light

Just went thru this on my Seafarer…so I am assuming its the same. Get a thin screwdriver and place between lens and frame and pop it out. The lens has 4 tabs which hold it into the frame so just move the screwdriver so its not on one of those tabs and it should come out without a problem. I...

Overheat Alarm at Idle - F250

Ugh !….but as you say, after 2300 hard hours it really doesn't owe you too much.

Yamaha Fuel Managment - how accurate

Fill your tank…when your fuel management gauge says you burned say,50 gallons, top it off again. See how many gallons it actually takes. At that point you will have a better idea of whats really going on and can figure out what you want to do from there (i.e repair/ replace / adjust the gauge.)

228 Rear Seat Back - Removable Brackets

Yeah. Maybe some local dealers put the screws in to keep the seats from going overboard in rough weather because I doubt that Grady would make a mess like that. The screws were different sizes, in on an angle, bent, the holes were not round etc etc.

228 Rear Seat Back - Removable Brackets

Mine just look like angle irons (2 for each setback)that are screwed into the transom. The seatback is lowered onto them so that the vertical part of the irons go into the hole in the seatback. Then a screw is inserted thru the setback hole and into the fiberglass to hold in place. Really a non...

228 Rear Seat Back - Removable Brackets

I don't know if yours is the same as mine, but I found that they sit on a bracket and that a screw was drilled into the fiberglass next to the bracket to keep them from falling off (pretty cheesy setup if you ask me). I was able to access it by putting a screwdriver through the hole in the back...

Repower 232 from twins to single

If the 2001's are "solid" as you say, how about waiting until they're not? Could be another 500 hours left in them...who knows. I understand that you have no docking problems at your own slip, but if you go to other marinas, gas docks, restaurants etc with a single , that may not be the case...

New Radio Needed - Any recommendations?

Actually some of the newer radios have a built in GPS so you dont have to wire them into your existing unit and still have the safety of DSC. Kinda pricey but as the other poster says it really depends on what you want/need. Agree with Standard Horizon as a good choice.

Repower 232 from twins to single

Agree with the part about manuverability. That big 9'3" beam with a single on a bracket is a handful around the dock (especially in reverse).

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

Ooops..just saw that now on review. Cant fathom that the plate is still buried with the engine in the top hole..it IS strange unless thats just the way this particular model is. Hopefully someone with the exact same setup will chime in.

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

Actually looks like it's mounted a bit too high to me. Did you ever get the WOT numbers that another member asked for? Where is the anti vent plate when running at cruising speed and trimmed correctly? Check out this thread and the accompanying pictures...

Overheat Alarm at Idle - F250

Only overheats at idle, but fine at speed? I'm betting Poppet valve (also known as PVC valve). Clean out or replace.

Yep..something else going on. Do you have a bracket? Is it full of water ?

outboard power for 24' offshore 225 vs. 250

Here's one way to look at it: How many times have you heard someone say, "Gee, I really wish that I had gotten the smaller motor."

2003 228 Seafarer seems to ride low

I would look at the following: does the engine achieve WOT? If so what is the speed at WOT? Is the engine mounted too low /high ? What prop are you running. You can then check with some of the other forum members with similar setups to see where you should be after you get the answers to how...

Torque Tab on lower unit GONE!

True..and as we know, removal is NOT the problem. Ive seen a bunch of threads like this about lost anodes but can't remember seeing any about ones that wouldn't come off.
