    Volvo I/O anyone?

Captain, The 7.4 is rated at 330 HP. Top end is a maximum of 4,600 RPM. I cruise at 22-23MPH at 3,200 RPM. I have a lot of weight on it with downriggers and other fishing equipment plus a 9.9 4 stroke kicker for trolling. Lots of low end torque. It is a good match for the 25 ft...

    Volvo I/O anyone?

Captain Thunderheart, Do you have a 454 CI in your Sailfish? I have a 1988 Sailfish with a 454 - 7.4 liter Mercrusier/Bravo One. Engine and outdrive are original. Nothing major for either. Yes, It does sound sweet at about a 1,000 RPM. Coming back in through the piers I move...

    Trailer bunk alignment

I would try to position the bunks, width wise, so that they were located under the stringers. Under the stringers would be the strongest part of the hull and the best place to carry the load. I would also ideally have one or two inches of bunk protruding beyond the transom so that the hull...

OT - Need to diagnose fuel tank problem.

First question. Does this boat have a fuel filter??? If not, one should be installed. It should be the fuel/water separator type. In my mind it would be very unlikely that water would be leaking INTO the tank without lots of gas leaking OUT. You would certainly smell the leaking gas...

    Pennzoil synthetic

I have used Pennzoil Synthetic BLEND for many years in a 1992 115HP Johnson. I also use Sea Foam from time to time. Very satisfied with both products.

    Tranducer mounting

Silicone does not cure into a solid HARD mass as expoxy will. The transducer's signal needs the hard epoxy mass to carry the siganl to and through the hull. I would guess the cured rubbery silicone quivers more than a little bit when the transducer signal passes through it.

    sailfish I\O twin ,or single?

The hatch width for my single 454 CI is 3 feet. The wo tstringers are also on three foot centers. A configuration for twins would need to be much different including stringers for mounting two engines.

    sailfish I\O twin ,or single?

I have an 1988 25 ft. sailfish with a 454 CI, 330 HP pushing through a Bravo drive. I fish Lake Michigan and use a kicker OB for trolling. She gets out of the hole fast enough for me. I'm somewhat underproped which helps in that area. I cruise at 22 - 23 MPH at 3,200RPM for about 12...

    Downrigger Mount

Jekyl, How fast do you troll with the 3 lb. ball? For salmon the speed range is 2.5 MPH give or take a few tenths. I fished with a guy out of Kona who commercial fished for tuna. He had a commercial downrigger and a 30 lb ball. When that ball came out of the water he grabbed it in a...

Docking Question ? Anybody use a wood Plank to get on Boat?

Sounds like you want to position the gang plank with one end on the dock and the other end on the bracket?? Is that correct? If so, what is the distance between the dock and the bracket??

    Downrigger Mount

Here are a lot of optional items for mounting downriggers. On the Great Lakes many of the down riggers are mounted on swivel bases 4" high. The bottom of the swivel base slides into a track. The track is a very heavey support spreading the force along the gunnel. With a track you can...

Removing the cheap look from my grady.

I'm also an older guy that likes to keep things original. I found the exact formica at a cabinet makers shop. I bought a 4 X 8 sheet and used adhesive to attach to plywood. Using the old piece as a template it was a perfect original replacement. I was told by the cabinet maker to buy the...

Do you have it on a trailer? If so the easiest way may be "ear muffs" hooked to a fresh water hose.

    Advise on Raymarine A65 System

I purchased the A65 a couple of years ago well before prices were dropping. I paid somewhere over $1,500. I had one problem that was cured with a dowloaded software update. (Early model problem I would guess) I have been happy with the unit on Lake Michigan. No problem marking Lake Trout...

    Name of bulkhead mounding material..??

Check with a local kitchen cabinet maker. My local guy had laminate samples that matched perfectly. He placed an order for me and it arrived about a week later. I was told by the cabinet maker to use a powder glue mixed with water. He said it had better heat resistance if your boat is...
