    Curtains up or down

Just be sure 35-45 is the max winds, and not the forecast sustained winds. Lots of storms will have gusts significantly higher than the sustained. We had gusts here into the 90s, even though the max sustained were in the 50s and 60s.

Riding Out Isais in a Hurricane Hole

She made it through just fine. We just brought her back down the river and over to our dock on the ICW. Ironically, after surviving the storm unscathed, we hit a submerged log it the river. Not a sound I ever want to hear again. Luckily everything is still running fine except for the...

    Curtains up or down

Taken down completely, both to reduce windage and to avoid damage to the curtains themselves. 15 minutes of work is a small price to pay to avoid having to replace busted curtains.

Riding Out Isais in a Hurricane Hole

Got it up there today. I am tied in a spider web fashion between two floating barges on pilings. Got 8 lines on her. In addition to being 7 or so miles inland, and down a small creek, she is sitting a good 15 to 20 feet below the surrounding land. The Cape Fear River Pilot boats are next to me...

Riding Out Isais in a Hurricane Hole

Hah! If I thought I could do any good on it if it broke free, I would. That said, I'll be sloshed in my garage!

Riding Out Isais in a Hurricane Hole

This will be my first storm with a wet-slipped boat. I have neither a trailer nor a truck sufficient to pull my 330 Express out, and all the yards are booked up for haul outs. I will be taking it up the Cape Fear River and then down Smith Creek where one of the yards has a dedicated hurricane...

    Yamaha repower questions

I second calling Central Marine down in Florida. Ask for Karl Neiger. He sold me a pair of F300s last year, and I could not have been happier with the price or the level of service he provided. I live in NC, and he had them shipped up for right around $500 in freight costs. This will also...

    330 Express Performance Question

Yup. How fast are you getting? Do you have your enclosure up? Yamahas or Zukes? bottom paint? full tank? I get 42-43 at top end. What about you? Just curious.

1 year review of the 330 express

I am pulling up to one year on my 2006, and I agree with pretty much everything you said. Not sure if that speaks well for some of the items that Grady could have improved over the years. I am not griping though, it is a great boat. It does ride like a champ, thanks to both the size and the...

    330 Express Performance Question

Still crazy to me how everything was fine and then suddenly it wasn't. Most surprising effect was how much my fuel efficiency dropped.

    Slipping without bottom paint

I would have no fear about leaving it in for three days. Down here in NC, some of the local dry stack marinas shut down for 10 days at Christmas, and members (including me when my old 273 Chase was in a stack) have their boats left in the entire time so they can use them over the holidays. I...

    330 Express Performance Question

And I'm back! Pressure wash and bottom paint was the answer. It felt great to fly down the ICW again!

    Rub Rails

Dang that's nice. That rail, and everything around it, looks like a brand new boat.

    Honda Inverter As Generator Question

I am getting the genny on my 330 Express pulled to be fixed. I know some folks just use a Honda (or similar) inverter instead of the generator. How do you set it up? How do you connect it to shore power? Where do you mount it? And how do you secure it? How do you prevent CO from collecting in...

Why are Grady's so popular in eastern Long Island and what is it like in your area?

I grew up at the Jersey Shore, and I remember fishing as a kid on my friend's dad's Grady. I remember seeing a lot of Gradys and always considered them a Northeast boat. Fast forward 30 years, and I am living in Southeast North Carolina and have learned that they are not a Northeast boat but...

    330 Express Performance Question

Yes, it is in a slip, and I usually run it once or twice a week. Noticed the decreased performance after about two weeks of it sitting in the slip without getting down there to run it. The last time it had been out of the water was around late October or November.

    330 Express Performance Question

Pulled it today for bottom paint and service. Here's what she looked like on the bottom. Hoping to get my MPGs and MPHs back! As an aside, I am glad the shop felt comfortable rolling it down the street on those tires, cause I wouldn't have! service. Here's what
