    water where it shouldn't be

I was wondering about that. I stuck my head in there a while back. I remember thinking, I hope I don't have to try to seal this off. I'll need a buddy to grab my ankles and hold me upside in order to get in there :doh :sorry I think that's a project for tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

    water where it shouldn't be

Welp, I was out for about 8 hours yesterday in 5-7' with no wind, and took no water over the bow. had a scoop of cruddy pinhead chovies and many died quickly. Clogged the bait tank stand off again, sever times, causing it to over flow. Ended up with more water in the forward bilge. Had all...

    water where it shouldn't be

The seacock for the AC was closed before we left the dock. I suspect the 30g fresh water tank is the one in the stern bilge area and the 10 gallon waste holding tank is the one in the forward bilge, under the midship bed??? Anyone know what the flashing light on the JABSCO switch thing...

    water where it shouldn't be

It's a 2007 282 Sailfish. got it at the beginning of summer, so I'm still learning tons. Took it out a few weekends ago and had some chovies die off in the bait well and get stuck in the standoff. Caused it to overflow onto the deck. Noticed a few inches of water in the cabinet above the...

    dancing on a 282 Sailfish

There may have been a few volunteers... This was the next day:) It was a good 7-8' combined on the way out and most of the morning. My big brother didn't do so well (chum, chum) and still wasn't feeling very well once the ocean laid down and the fish bcame wide open I'd say we put 36 on...

    dancing on a 282 Sailfish

I love all the room in the back of my sailfish. Only the 4th time out in it chasing albacore in western Washington, and I'm getting the hang of it :) I was already hooked up when I turned the video camera on. Then my brother gets bit. his fish literally then grabbed my dad's bait too, so...

    downriggers on a 282 Sailfish

45 miles SW of the Columbia River. The area is loaded right now, but you better have live biat or be good with iron. Buddies were out yesterday and put 20 and 23 on each boat.

Slicks or carpet for 282 trailer

My 282 loads and unloads pretty well, but I'd like it to be a little smoother. The carpet at the aft of a bunk is torn, so I'll be replacing it. The question is, should I recarpet both bunks or pull the carpet off all together and add slicks. The rule is to never unhook the bow until after...

    downriggers on a 282 Sailfish

Thanks folks. Went about 3" forward of the aft rod holders. Fortunately I didn't need to use them last week, as the tuna are here :) :) Here's the first fish to ever hit the deck The last fish of the day And all 15

    live well use

Pull the stopper out of the bottm. You may have a stand pipe clipped into the bottom of your baitwell lid. Screw that in. Should be a switch on your dash to fire the pump up. But, you still need to find that seacock and open it to get water to your livewell pump. Water will enter your bait...

    downriggers on a 282 Sailfish

I'm thinking a 3/4" piece of varnished plywood and 2.5" SS bolts will secure them nicely. I'm also considering caulking the edges of the bases and bolts so no water gets to sit around anywhere.

    downriggers on a 282 Sailfish

I'm interested in where everyone else has installed their downriggers on their 282 Sailfish. Including the receptacle plug. I'm thinking forward of the aft rod holders on both sides.

    Can I get some advice?

In general...really, really figure what you are going to use the boat for. The cabin is nice, if your family will use it. You may not want your fishng buddies dirtying it up, so with them it will be wasted fishing space. Again, will your family go??? Or will it be a fishing machine? That is...

    2007 282 with F250s performance

we propsected WP earlier this month (9th) and put 5 on the deck (my buddy's 24' Hewescraft). Had two others come unbuttoned. It got a little snotty on the way in and stayed that way! Don't know when offshore will change.

    2007 282 with F250s performance

Thanks Mike. It took a while to get used to listening to the North River to know where to run her. but once I got it down, I never bothered looking at the tach, I could just feel and her here when she was at the right place. The high RPM sounds, not what I wanted to hear with the jet (sounded...

    2007 282 with F250s performance

I've been doing a couple shakedown trips with my new rig, fresh and salt water, calm conditions. Two of us onboard, full fuel tanks (no idea whats in the fresh water tank). I'm coming from a tin 22' jetboat made to run in 4"of water, so I have a big learning curve to go through. First...

tool kit and spare parts for 282

I'm trying to get a pretty good offshore repair kit together, tools and all. Adding a toilet boil wax ring to plug any big holes in the hull. Thinking I should have a few spare hoses, fuel lines, hose clamps. I'm wondering what lengths and diameters y'all recommend
