I`m 67 and my wife is 61 we have lost about 11% of our IRA`s since last October.Just last week I talked with the guy who is manageing our accounts and told him at our age we don`t buy "green bannas"so he better come up with a plan to protect our savings. So far we havn`t had to dip into any of...

    Grady or Jupiter/Contender

I think you answered your own question! If you are going to use your boat for mostly offshore ventures then the Contender/Jupitor`s are going t be a better choice because of the deep vee.The Grady is more geared to the family type of use sort of all round type of boat.Having said that all are...

    Cleaning Gradys..

I don`t concider myself a clean freak when it comes to boats.I use them for fishing!!I do clean my boat up after each fishing trip and if it is late when I get home I will at least hose it down to remove any salt deposits and flush to engine then clean it up the next day.I have been on boats...

    NJ fluke

My problem with the regs all along the eastern seaboard is that the through back ratio is extremly high and how many of these fish will live to fight on another day, there has to be a better way of doing this. Also it seem crazy that the creel limit is different from state to state, after all these...

    Seafarer 226 versus 228

Yes you do have to get used to backing up the 228 and tilting the engine does help.I have a 1998 and it is set up for a 2 stroke. The battery on the starbord side is easy to get to and remove, but the other side is a PITA because of the oil reservoir is in the way.

    towing question

When I bought my 228 I had a Chevy 1500 4X4 with a 305 ci engine 373 rear and tow upgrade .The truck did ok on flat ground ,but when going up steep grades and hills it squalked a bit..I also added a set of air spings to the rear witch made a big difference on how the rig handled and took away...

    which is better

I also use PRI-G.Last August I filled my boat up on the way home from a fishing trip in Delaware.I added the PRI-G when filling up as usual. As luck has it some medical issues came up and I didn`t use the boat until last week.I took it out not knowing what to expect. She started right up and ran...

    Fuel Sender Question

I never have trusted those things,if fact I once ran out of fuel due to a faulty one.Get yourself a floscan or a similar unit, that way you will always know how much fuel is in the tank along with what you are burning per hourYou will be able to trim your engine and trim tabs to get the most out...

Bilge Pump Size - Why so small?

At the time I was concerned about the gage of the wire and called GW and told em what I was doing .They said the wiring would handle it ,but to get a breaker with 5 more amps .I think I went from a 5 to 10.The next time my son drops by I will send him out there with a digital camera and see if...

Bilge Pump Size - Why so small?

I got mine at a West Marine Store .At the time I was wondering how that pump could push that much water out of a 3/4" hole.I would go out and see if I could see the pump and get the model #,but I just had my rotator cuff repaired Tuesday so I`m not about to do that.

Bilge Pump Size - Why so small?

That particular model was on sale and it was only a few bucks extra.I really didn`t need one that large because my boat lives on a trailer beside my house with the drain plug out.

Anyone know what to expect mpg cruise on 22-8?

My engine is a 1998 salterwater series OX66,and I concider it as a very reliable trouble free engine. The only way that I would repower[$18K or more]is if it were cost effiecent to do so and I`m no where near that point.

Anyone know what to expect mpg cruise on 22-8?

I have the same setup as you.I don`t keep a log so what I say is from memory. Also the first thing I added to my boat was a floscan, not so much for the mileage factor but to know exactly how much fuel I had in my tank.I trim and throttle while watching the gauge to get the best rpm`s at the best...
