    Engine problem

Your gauges are the key. What were they indicating? If you can't remember, you may have to duplicate the event to see what is happening. If it was overheat or oil, the rpm's would have decreased on their own if all the sensors were working.

    spirit 175 scuppers

My first Grady was the 17 spirit. I bought it used with an 85 Suzuki on it and repowered it a year later with a new 115 C series Yamaha. I did notice after the repower water entering the scruppers with a full tank of fuel and with me (200 lb) in the back. Nothing serious though, it drained...

    Low rider 222 Fisherman

This is going to sound far-fetched but has it been in the same body of water since you bought it? You did't go from salt water to fresh water by chance?

Trim Gauge Not working-- Yamaha 225

Sounds like some of us are hearing two different questions. I think we are talking engine trim indicator from the original post. One answer appears to be a solution for trim tabs and not engine trim. If you think you need to clarify, please do. Thanks.

    Soundproofing the outboard

Get some ear plugs but don't try to put anything under that cowl. The Yamaha guys have already tried to reduce the sound as much as possible without interfering with the air flow into the engine compartment. Other option is to spring for an F series engine but I personally still like the 2...

buying 1st boat - advice sought (208 adventure)

You may want to take a look at some of the services offered by SeaTow and Boat USA. Take a close look at trailering services on their websites. They usually provide decent assistance both on and off the water. http://www.seastore.com/additional_programs/default.asp

    LOCKING GAS CAPS

Based on the way the lock fits into the fill neck, I believe that if I were the gas thief, I would go to the next boat. The lock sits about an inch down into the fill neck and as I stated in the earlier post, it takes some practice to lock and unlock it. It would be easier to go through the...

    LOCKING GAS CAPS

I purchased this style for my 2001 and it has worked well. Can be a little tricky to get locked and screw cap back on but once you get used to it, not a problem. http://www.gradywhite.com/anchorline/v2 ... ertips.php

Thanks for the replys. Capeguy, I have checked with others about using the well in front of the console but was told the well sloshed water quite a bit. I had the same problem in my 208 at times. I read somewhere where a sportsman owner put a Kodiak p14 on the swim platform but would like to...

    Price on Re-Power

Here is a comparison website from Jacksonville, FL. I don't think the price advertised includes anything but the engine. http://www.crewsn2outboard.com/inventory.asp?whatType=motors&listby=allmotors

    repower my 1998 208

I had a 1996 208 adventure that I used to fish out of Port Canaveral with and it had a 200 saltwater series 2 stroke. It seemed to be the perfect engine for that hull although there were times with a heavy following sea that I would liked to have had about 25 more horses. I would not consider...

    Buffers?

I know that the porter cable setup is highly recommended in the fiberglass rv world. I personally use a makita buffer but I always make sure to stay around 1200 rpm to avoid burning the finish. Here is a good link to get some information...

    18 sportsman owners

I recently bought an '01 sportsman 180. It came from factory with raw water washdown, fresh water sprinkler, trim tabs, bimini top. Did not come with extra battery or plumbed live well. I am planning on using either a Kodiak P14 round tank kit on the swim step or a self-contained system like...
