1977 GW Dolphin 200 Winter Project

you can lift the motor off with a harmonic balancer pulling tool, a strong eye bolt that fits the centre hole in the pulling tool, and three 5/16 fine thread bolts that will fit into the three holes on top of the flywheel and maybe some washers. should run you under $20.

1977 GW Dolphin 200 Winter Project

welcome aboard and nice boat. i'd have been pretty psyched to own that at 19 and that's a great price. it appears the engine was raised because it is an extra long leg motor (25"), whereas your transom is for a long leg motor (20"). i am not sure what the owner did but the problem is unless...

removing floor on 89 19' tournament

could he do a patch repair leaving the floor intact. cut the rotten stringer section out leaving laps at each end. excavate the wet foam. then build up a replacement stringer in two pieces using tongue in groove and dowels to get a good join (after thoroughly soaking the pieces in epoxy)...

removing floor on 89 19' tournament

awesome job dennis. i have never seen that thread. that's a lot of love for an old hull.

1991 GW Sailfish Sitting heavy at stern in water

i don't know the construction detail of the stern on a sailfish. but yes. in the area next to the bilge and right beside the transom there might be a space below your floor with no foam that can fill up with water that has nowhere to go. take a look into your bilge and see if there is a gap...

1991 GW Sailfish Sitting heavy at stern in water

yeah, i agree it sounds doubtful, but i would try temporarily shifting the battery and anything else you come across to see if it changes anything. you are describing a pretty slight list on a non cv2 hull which will list fairly easily so i am not sure if you are waterlogged. try resting a...

1991 GW Sailfish Sitting heavy at stern in water

is it still listing with the motors in the water? if they are tilted up the boat may list the direction the powerheads are leaning. also is there any unequal weight distribution near the stern. batteries? live wells?

    Transducer Replacement_1997 208 Adventure

before you replace, is it possible it has been knocked out of position and is now at the wrong angle to the hull? if it has moved one click up or down those are the exact symptoms you would get. if you do redo, i suggest abandoning that hole and running it over the top of the transom and in...

    OX66 question, towing question, oil

the chromed cleats on 14' fibreglass lake boats from the 1960s that are held on with 1/4" non-stainless studs do this same job with no issues.

    OX66 question, towing question, oil

i think v76 efi is the vmax non-salt water version but it would be essentially the same motor with same block and it would have the same efi system. on the evinrude/johnsons the non-salt water motors have parts that rust. don't know if there is any difference with yamahas. are you sure you...

    get up on plane

at the risk of debating how many angels dance on the head of a pin, there is an answer to this. before i offer it, i will agree that so long as you get up on plane as fast as your boat can do it i don't really think it matters too much how you choose to work the throttle. there are some...

    New member, new project

congrats and welcome to the tournament club. if you go to the grady white website and then to customer resources you will find catalogues back to1984 you can download. the 223, 224 and 225 model numbers in those days distinguished between the transom/power options for the larger 22 tournament...

    get up on plane

sorry but i totally disagree with this. the rpms you need to stay on plane have a lot to do with hull design, prop selection and trim tabs and nothing whatever to do with the best way to utilize engine torque and minimize lugging in a particular motor to accelerate onto plane whether you have a...

    Stress Crack in 190 Tournament

i think maybe there has been someone quite large climbing into the boat from a dock using the stern seats as a step. my 86 190 does not have those cracks up high but it does have a smaller hairline crack on one corner of the same inner stern liner where the lip holds the rear seat. and i have...

1977 Grady White, our first boating season...

excellent. it cleaned up nicely. sorry about the motor but with two old evinrudes you seem good for a while longer. i love the fact that if you take away the lapstrakes your 38 year old boat is basically the same as a model made today, and capable of generating family fun and memories...
