Aluminum transom cap and transom bulge on 265

That's a nice bracket brace. I caulked the aluminum trim cap with Boat Life polysulfite. The silicone stuff just peeled off. Should hold until I haul out next year, I hope.

Aluminum transom cap and transom bulge on 265

Thanks for reply. The surveyor's meter did show signs of moisture but from his soundings he did not feel the transom was rotten.

Aluminum transom cap and transom bulge on 265

I noticed a large bulge under the aluminum transom trim cap and between the outboards that extends down the transom about 2" . It seems to be getting bigger. The trim piece looks like it was caulked in the past. There is a small crack about 1-1/2" too. I hauled out a few months ago to recoat...

Where to install thru hull transducer on 2001 Grady 265

Here's what Grady White customer service says: They recommend a shoot thru transducer just aft of the shower sump in the forward bilge. He said it is not too forward to pick up turbulence. Any Grady 265 owners mount a transducer in the forward bilge?

Where to install thru hull transducer on 2001 Grady 265

Thanks for info. I'm calling Grady tomorrow to check on alternative locations and if another hole may jeopardize the hull integrity. I think the worst case scenario is using a transom mount ducer and skimmer. That will alleviate another hole in the boat. And great idea for the oil tray. I'm...

Where to install thru hull transducer on 2001 Grady 265

Here's my clean bilge at last. I bought a 20 degree B150 thru hull transducer and planning on installing in front of port seacock. Considering leaving the old faring block ducer or having a fiberglasser seal it up. Any thoughts for an old thread?

    Need advice on 265 express

I have a 2001 265 with the same motors, albeit more hours than your prospect. Great boat! I run out of San Francisco Bay, so if your close come by and look at mine. The 265 handles head seas like butter. Beam and following seas take some practice and a bit unnerving when she flops over, but...

Removing old transducer fairing block or leave it on?

I upgraded a 2001 Grady 265 with a Simrad evo2 from a Northstar GPS and Sitex MK 2 106 sounder. The existing transducer fairing block is between two seacocks in the aft bilge. It doesn't read well over 10 knots, so the seacocks may be too close to the old transducer. I'm planning on...

Where to install thru hull transducer on 2001 Grady 265

Thanks Dennis, I reposted a link to a better photo. Yup, that bilge is nasty. I got the boat in April and that's on my long list when I haul her out. I'm going to remove the back deck section to get serious scrubbing down there. I'm hoping that I could keep, the Sitex as a backup, but if I...

Where to install thru hull transducer on 2001 Grady 265

I have a 2001 Grady 265. I purchased a Simrad 7 Evo2 to upgrade my old Northstar 951x chart plotter. Since it comes with CHIRP installed I'm considering upgrading my 2001 Sitex 106 Mark 2 50/200 sounder with a new chirp transducer. Either the TM 150, B150m or the B75m The Sitex transducer is...

Marlin sump pump & float switch

I had similar issue with my shower sump on my grady 265. I removed the pump and float and bench testing with 12v battery. They both worked so it was the wiring. One wire had corrosion and not connected to float. Put it all together and works great. Lots of moisture in bilge, so that could be...

Do you have pics of the bracket receiver and the seat bracket? I like to try to fab a set for my 265. Thanks! Frank

    Broken horn?

My horn did the same thing when I first tried it. I removed the covers and I sprayed some WD-40 into the horn opening and it loosened something in there. Both work great now.

Remote Control Shift Cable adjustment? Yam HPDI.

Thanks for the great info. I didn't think of running the motor while making the adjustment. Yes, the spline did move into gear when he put the new impeller on. Looks like pulling the two clips off will remove the lower shift cable end, then loosen the little set screw. Looks like the cable...

Remote Control Shift Cable adjustment? Yam HPDI.

Yes, I think you are right about the shift splines being off a bit. The lower end was off and on by the previous owner and he had to get it definitely moved out of neutral after the water impeller replacement. By moving the adjustment, do I still need to drop the lower unit and center up the...

Remote Control Shift Cable adjustment? Yam HPDI.

My Port side HPDI grinds before settling in Reverse. The STB side goes in fairly easily with a slight " thunk". I'm thinking that the shift control cable is out of range and it needs an adjustment. Can it be the lower unit was not sync with upper unit when replacing water impellers? Are the...

265 Express shower sump, rebedding and swim ladder

enough Already, Thanks for the great info. I finally took the bow hatch off and the Delam was about a square foot around the hatch. I drilled about 30 holes and let it dry out for a week. I pumped epoxy into the holes and weighed it down. It worked for the most part, with a few spots still...

265 Express shower sump, rebedding and swim ladder

Re: 265 Express shower sump and rebedding and swim ladder I may have to buck up and get the original swim step and ladder in case of a MOB event. Climbing back in would be very difficult with out some sort of ladder. Especially if going out solo.

265 Express shower sump, rebedding and swim ladder

Re: 265 Express shower sump and hardware rebedding Thanks Eppem! I'm going to remove the cabin hatch and check the connections. Is it wired directly to the batteries? Or is there a manual switch? It seems like it should be powered whenever the water pump is turned on. Good info on swim...
