    Do I need new hinges?

I have my electronics in my lower electronics box on my 232. To keep the door open when running I placed a rubber 45 degree door stop between the door and fiberglass near the hinge. Used for several years and keeps the door open when running with no damage.

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Hi Ted R From my experience, start looking for wood early. It seems EZ Loader uses odd sized lumber which is not found at Big Box Stores unless you rip it. Also in my area lumber seem to fly out the door at these stores and limited sizes. I had a hard time locating the size. After thinking...

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Found local premium lumber supplier that can get 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 12 for my bunks. Offered Pine for $38 and Oak for $78. Considering how I use my trailer I went with one Pine board since the others look fine.. Yukon Lumber in Norfolk, VA is the Co. Very nice and helpful on the phone and can...

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Seasick, in your opinion, how many bunks should I replace? The bunk on the far left has a large crack about 24 inches long and my utility knife blade goes in about 1" at most in some areas. Wood is cracked in other areas but this area has the most split. The other bunks are not cracked at...

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Thanks for all the help. Decided to post pic's to better show what I am replacing and the configuration of the trailer mounts and brackets. The condition of the bunks are due to my neighbors fire which melted the carpet exposing the one cracked bunk. The 3 1/2" side is against the boat. Can...

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Thanks for your thoughts. In your opinion, would the doubled 2 x 4 be better than the 4 x 4? I also assume that counter sunk screws should be used in order for the wide side to face up.

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Called EZ Loader Corporate Customer Service. They said 4 x 4 would work. Also said to use Fir or Yellow Pine among others. They said no treated wood due to environmental issues which I don't understand. We use treated wood all over Virginia. To end this post I will use the 4 x 4 and replace...

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Seasick suggested using doubled 2 x 4's but since my bunks sit wide side up I think I might have a problem with the hardware used to join them. Original bunks were 3 1/2 x 2 1/2. My thoughts were to replace with 4 x 4 which are 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 or match original by cutting off 1 inch. the...

    Replacing Bunks on trailer

Replacing bunks on my EZ loader trailer. Current bunks are 3 1/2" by 2 1/2". Question: Would you use 4 x 4's which are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2 or cut them down to the original size?

EZ Loader trailer burned and melted

I may have made the damage appear too severe. It was just a lot of plastic parts and the tires on one side blistered. The carpet on the bunks melted on top. No fire. I only use the trailer to move the boat for maintenance no more than 15 miles a year. The frame and axles look just like it...

EZ Loader trailer burned and melted

6-25-2020 my neighbors garage burned to the ground. It damaged many parts, winch, bunks, lights, wiring, oil bath caps, tires melted and blistered, etc. Most items I am able to take care of. Question: Do you really need a 2-3/8 6 point socket to remove the oil bath caps that are now...

Raccoons chewed thru the shrink wrap!

My boat was not attacked by squirrels for 8 years after I moved here. All it takes is 1 critter 1 time and you have a problem. After my repair expenses I decided I would take no more chances and be pro active with traps, P B and peanuts are cheaper than repairs.

Raccoons chewed thru the shrink wrap!

I feel your pain!!! I lost 3 digital drive cables and replaced many wires and 2 plastic trim tab lines to squirrels in 2 years. I tried many suggestions and the only thing that helped me was to trap them and dispatch them to where ever. Now I have traps on the boat and in the yard at my boat...
