    Frozen zipper’s on canvas

I believe that GW recommends applying petroleum jelly to the zippers annually. Coincidentally, I applied it to my zippers and snaps today.

Electric Hot Water Heater on my 2002 Islander Just Stopped Working

Thanks for the input. I have always had gas-fired hot water heaters at home, but if the GW unit has removable heating elements, I'll see if I can figure it out.

240 offshore to 268/270 islander have some questions...

I thought that the Islander being impacted by another boat's wake was a trait when you only had a single. Mine will list if I catch another boats wake wrong. It usually happens when I overtake another boat or get overtaken by a boat going in the same direction. So you still had the problem...

240 offshore to 268/270 islander have some questions...

I have to believe that the performance of the 268 Islander would be somewhat similar to the 265 Express with similar motors. I think that the 265 is about 1-foot wider and 1-foot shorter than the Islander. There have been a few posts recently on this site where people are discussing putting...

240 offshore to 268/270 islander have some questions...

I have never been in a 240 offshore so I cannot compare one to an Islander. However, I can provide an opinion on an Islander. The Islander is excellent in a head sea, like most hulls it's not as good in following seas. As far as years to buy, I'd recommend trying to get a 270 rather than a...

Following Sea in 232 vs 305

Is there a good hull in following seas? I do retract the tabs and trim up the OB, but my 270 isn't real fun either in following seas.

    270 Islander purchase?

I have a 2002. It's a very versatile boat for fishing and cruising. I only have a single, I understand that the twins are really nice on them.

Can an adult couple sleep in the v-berth of the 300 express? 330?

My wife and I have slept in the V-Berth of my Islander 270, so I have to believe a 300 Express would have plenty of room.

    2005 282 Sailfish

I have heard from several people with several similar models that a new access hole is needed to replace that hose.

    Rub Rails

Yes, acetone with 303 really brings them back. WEAR NITRILE GLOVES when using acetone in well ventilated area. You will see a lot of blue color on your rag as you are removing the old oxidized rubber surface. Keep rubbing until your rag stays pretty clean. Then apply the 303 or other rubber...

    pull 268 Islander fuel tank

Before last season, I pulled off the large fuel tank hatch to inspect and clean the outside of the tank with soap and water. This season, I just pulled the two small access ports, poured in some liquid soap, and blasted the top of the tank using a hose nozzle the best that I could. This annual...

My new to me 2004 265 Express

Great find! Try to find a new express in that size range today. It's a shame, but no one makes them anymore. Take care of it! This boat also has 250 gallons of fuel capacity. That provides outstanding range.

    Oval decal

I searched everywhere for a pair of Islander 270 ovals and never found any. I ended up reusing the old ones when I replace the pendant decals.
