    Furuno 1650wf ??

It's old technology so you'd have to live with it. The ones I've seen have been real dogs.

    Deck plate o-rings

I popped one and it had no markings at all on it. I found was able to find replacement o-rings for both Beckson and Tempress but I'm not sure if the o-rings are interchangeable between manufacturers. Maybe I'll pop a few more plates to see if one of them is marked BTW: the o-rings are black

    just bought 2001 seafarer

I completely restored my last Grady and then decided I wanted a hardtop. After looking around for quite sometime I came to the conclusion that if I wanted a hardtop it was cheaper to sell the boat and buy one with a hardtop which is what I did. Having had both a bimini and a hardtop I'd never...

How does an adventure 208 handle Chesapeake chop

I had a 204 and it did Ok on the Bay but you had to slow down on a lot of summer afternoons to keep from rattling your fillings out. I then bought the 226 and it rides a heck of a lot better in the slop. On all but the worst days I can run at my normal cruise speeds. I'm not sure if it's...

    Strange ?Fuel Problem

Been there, done that. I had a similar issue on my first boat. It would run great most of the season and then take a long slow road south at the end of the season. I never put two and two togheter until the day the motor died 7 miles offshore. Tried all the usal fuel problems and...

    Strange ?Fuel Problem

Sounds like your loading up with water over time. Are you running the oil filter type or a Racor type filter with the abiltiy to drain water from the bottom?

    Strange ?Fuel Problem

When is the last time you changed the fuel pump diaphragm? If you haven’t by now it’s long over due. And by the way, bag the premium gas. That unit was designed to run on 87 octane. Anything more is just throwing money out the exhaust port

Airmar Tilted Element for 272 Sailfish - dead rise?

I would measure the DR where you’re going to mount it. The hull may have a 20 degree dead rise overall but the angle is not a constant from the keel to the water line. I mounted my unit offset from the keel roughly 12” on a 226 and the dead rise was only 17 degrees which falls under the 14...

    Electronics-flush mount or not?

Looks good. I'm surprised don't have a problem with your compass being mounted so close to those units?

Installing 2 Batteries on my 1985 Overnighter.......

Here is what you want to use. http://bluesea.com/products/7650 That motor does not charge except when running above 2500 RPM so you'll live or die by your battery if you do a lot of slow speed operation. I ran a pair of Delco grp 27 deep cycle batteries on my Overnighter and never had...

    just had a great idea

SEC. 506. PASSENGER FOR HIRE. Section 2101 of title 46, United States Code, is amended by inserting between paragraphs (21) and (22) a new paragraph (21a) to read as follows: "(21a) 'passenger for hire' means a passenger for whom consideration is contributed as a condition of carriage...

    Electronics-flush mount or not?

I just went through the same thoughts to install a Garmin 4208. I looked at the flush mounting it but didn't like the fact that the screen would be perfectly perpendicular. I had several guys come over to look at it and all agreed it was a less than ideal mounting from a viewing...

Anyone change to a 4 blade S.S. prop?

I run a Renegade Offshore 14 1/2-17 on my 226. The hole shot is good, the mid-range is great and it doesn't blow out a easily in rough water. I lost maybe a knot or two of the top end which I'll gladly give up for the performance gains on the other end.

Airmar B60 tilted element 600w FLUSH mount transducer

Mine is installed about 16" behind the pump intake and slightly offset toward the keel. No problems going forward but I do get some clutter now and then when backing straight up. Not sure if it's turbulance from the intake or the prop.

How often does everyone replace their batteries?

The only 2 batteries I've ever had fail on me outright. One was a 14 month old Optima and the other was a 9 month old Exide. Both where replaced under pro-rated warranties but the point is that batteries don't fail after a determined amount of time. Replacing them every X number of months and...

Polishing Hardtop Frame -- '97 Gulfstream

I've tried all the tricks but there is not a lot you can do with aluminum once it gets pitted and lifts the anodize. Woody wax and bronze wool worked about as well as anything.
