    GW335 Outriggers

I'd like to buy outriggers for my GW335. Should I buy retractable or is ridged pole the way to go? What are the pros/cons of the two types? Any suggests and recommended models would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I have a home in West Yarmouth. I would really appreciate stopping over to see your setup and get pointers from you. Thank you! I am not on Cape until early June and can connect w/ you directly to schedule a time.

Thanks for the insight on the pump vs direct feed. I've read that it can be a nightmare w/ the pump. So, how did you go about actually installing the direct connect capability? Did you do it yourself or have someone do it? I am pretty handy, but have not done any fuel system work.

    NEMA Data Logging

Hi All - Only February and already getting excited about the upcoming fishing season on Cape Cod. That said, I want to start logging engine/fuel/speed/temp data from the Yamaha/Garmin sensors while running and was wondering if anyone has experience w/ doing this. I have a GW335 w/ twin 425s...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

Thanks Lucky13! It is clear that if you follow the precautions then running a gas bladder can be safe. I likely won't initially be running out to the canyons more than 1-2x a season. So, I am thinking about going with the ATL 100g and purchasing a fill-rite pump vs direct connect. IF I end up...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I actually might have one spot on the port side where I could install an additional tank out of the way. A really good point to go w/ an internal tank. Will investigate! Thanks!

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

It was a once in a lifetime catch and certainly the fishing gods blessed me and the crew that day.

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I caught it a bit north and east of Regal Sword in 260-270ft. Caught it on a Hogy 16oz diamond jig w/ teaser. I heard of one caught near crab ledge a year or so back. Good luck in your quest!

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

The halibut was a complete surprise as I though I had a small tuna on the spin gear. Once in a life time catch. Caught it on a basic 16oz diamond jig. I had a boat growing up on long island then had a break of 25 years until my next boat. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to boating...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

Yes, that would save me about 50g in/out. Would likely stop in Menemsha on MV to fuel up.

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I am based in Hyannis. So heading south via Muskeget channel I am ~110mi to Atlantis / ~125mi Veatch. Agree that spending the night likely makes a lot of sense given the long run. Good point that running 30-50mi for bluefin is primary focus. I can also go further East to George's bank and likely...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I haven't spent much time over the last 2 seasons paying much attention to fuel economy as I was enjoying the heck out of the boat and learning to tuna fish. Been offshore 45 miles east of Nantucket numerous times but thats the extent of my offshore experience. I do believe at a slower speed...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

There are more than a few folks who make the run from the cape and islands to the NE canyons in GW 306/307s. Certainly the 335 is up for the task. However, I would agree that there is no chance I am making the run w/o a buddy boat or two. Being offshore 100 miles is serious business and is not...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

Good point on what is my usable fuel onboard as it sure isn't 300 gallons. I would agree that I should go w/ the 100g bladder as it will afford me that bit extra if and when things don't go according to plan. My concern is offloading the fuel which I believe needs to be done with great care...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

Agree that I am going to need to speed the time to run at different speeds under different conditions w/ load to get more specific burn rates. I fish primarily East of Chatham from Peak Hill Bar down to Regal Sword. During last season I was running between .9 - 1.1 mpg. However, it was rare that...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I actually have a single 300 gallon fuel tank. I'd imagine I could install a quick connect fitting and a main shutoff so that I can select the bladder vs main. The other option is to refill the main tank via hose to fill pipe. You are right in that I likely could get away w/ a 50g bladder...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I have a GW 335 w/ twin 425s and 300 gallon fuel capacity. I am in the initial stages of trip planning to the NE canyons and have a couple of questions. I am about 115-120 miles from the canyons one way. Given a burn of 1 mile per gallon I'll need 250 gallons round trip. So I know I need...

    What is this? LED?

I've just learned that these are indeed LED lights that are part of the Helm Master system. They are on when you are utilizing 'setpoint' and signal to approaching boats that you might move and to swimmers to be aware that the engines are active.

    What is this? LED?

It is kinda odd. When I visited the factory I asked the guide about them. They didn't know for sure. It's still a mystery!

    What is this? LED?

I have a GW 335 and have yet to find someone who knows what is circled in red in the attached picture. I have one port and starboard. I am thinking its an LED.. but I didn't purchase that option. One person told me it is part of the helm master system - which I could not confirm.
