    NE Boat Show

GW has had its share of production quality concerns from members on this forum recently… at that price tag, hopefully the quality will stand up

Can’t believe this story impressive stuff by the uscg, per usual https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/02/04/us/coast-guard-rescue-oregon-boat-trnd/index.html

    Dock Line Source

I agree 5/8 isn’t needed in general use. You might visit docks that can only use 1/2 or even 3/8 so have a few smaller lines on board just in case if you go larger

The magma grill has a rail mount option too, if you have a stern railing

    282 Sailfish Cabin Moisture Control

Marinco Solar Powered and Passive Vents https://a.co/d/9zNlmsa won’t help if it’s wrapped or not in the sun but this helps my sailboat quite a bit

    Lower unit stuck

If you tilt the engine all the way, while parked on an incline, could there be enough slope to allow penetrating oil to work its way down the shaft? or can you build a bracket/mount to help you invert it while still attached with mounting bolts, rather than just hanging it kroil penetrating...

Has anyone done a glass front, like what the 330 Express has, on a 228?

Could talk to these guys https://offthehookboatworks.com/

    Gas Smell

I’d disconnect the battery until it gets sorted edit - seasick is right to disconnect from the battery switch (negative) not from the battery itself to avoid potential spark issue

    192 Repower Question

I believe Tohatsu is now making basically the same engines as Honda. They seem to be a little cheaper and more available than Yamaha Mercury and Suzuki. Historically Tohatsu made smaller engines (Nissans were also Tohatsu). I personally don’t think there would be much of a difference between 140...

    2001 yamaha

To be honest, it’s a lot of hours. Not necessarily a deal killer… How long do you plan to use these engines? when Andrew says ‘send injectors out’ he means having them removed (or remove yourself) and send them off to be reconditioned before reinstall. agree on getting a mechanic look over the...

When Are New Fuel Tanks Required

I agree worth getting in front of before it becomes a problem. If your new one installed is poly you wouldn’t need to worry again but you probably wouldn’t get the same level of capacity. Rule of thumb would be 20 years but certainly could be longer.

    MSRP Discount in today’s economy?

@paydaze77 interesting take. Sounds like you don’t have any recent actual information to offer either! Good luck finding your new boat in the empty showrooms.

    MSRP Discount in today’s economy?

It’s hard to say. I’ve seen a lot more used boats being posted in recent weeks. Just still sky high prices, not reflective of the overall market correction. In SF a 20’ 1973 Boston whaler with a 2000 or so engine will be listed for $20k. Not realistic and I think those listings will sit and...

    MSRP Discount in today’s economy?

Not sure I agree - new boats will be shipped to FL for quite a while. It’ll take several years for supply chain, interest rates, and labor issues to get back towards normal to help the industry with manufacturing efficiency.

    MSRP Discount in today’s economy?

it’s not just vacationers and not just New England that boats are used 3-4 months of the year… that’s the typical season for much of the country. In New England, the earliest you can go comfortably is probably May and by October you’ll want your boat out - earlier if hurricanes come up the coast...

Close the bow on a Tournament 192?

Great point in focusing on water outflow in the event. Maybe upgrade the bilge pumps while you’re thinking about it.

Close the bow on a Tournament 192?

you can find the boat and get it shipped to you. Even some travel costs you will probably save $ buying elsewhere than CA. Look in the northeast for example. I’ve noticed in recent weeks more and more quality boats being listed for sale, prices are still high though, but I think will come down...
