Wiring Autopilot into Yamaha Tachs Question--Answered

FYI I called Yamaha and got an instant response. Green is the Tach power and Black is the ground. There are extra bullet connectors so it was super easy to tap in. If you are going to install yourself you might want to PM me. I learned a couple of things that we not covered in the Install...

    Transom mounted transducer

I used a piece of 5/4 pressure treated deck board and 4200. No holes in my transom. I cut the sides and top at a 45 degree angle and the bottom at the same angle as the transom, can't remember if it was 13 or 18 degrees. To hold it tight to the transom while the 4200 sets I used some creative...

    Transducer wire

There are NO holes in my transom. In fact I even epoxied a piece of 5/4 pressure treated wood to the transom and screwed the transducer to it so I could avoid any holes.

Autopilot location on an Islander 270

OCNSLR Thanks for the info. I have been thinking about putting the pump under the passenger seat, ahead of the tackel storage, but not sure if the fresh water tank is in the bilge or sits on the floor. Might not be room. I'm going with the Garmin GHP10 and the 2.1Lpump which is very quiet so...

Autopilot location on an Islander 270

I plan on installing an Autopilot and am going through the "How and Where Phase". If you have an Islander I'd love to know where you put Tees in the hydraulic lines, pump location, etc. I have never removed the large floor panel that covers the 150 gal fuel tank. I'd hesitate to install...

    Trailer question

It sounds like what you are referring to are the bunks that the boat rests on. They can be replaced very easily. I have owned roller trailers and they are OK for smaller boats but my Islander sits on bunks and I am very pleased. Float off and drive on. No problems, even if I'm alone. If...

    Garmin GPS and Simrad AP24

I have a Garmin 3210C GPS and thinking about adding a Simrad AP24. I'm wondering how difficult it is to link the two together. I'm located in Rochester, NY and having a problem locating an installer with experience dealing with autopilots. If you have used an AP24 or the Garmin GHP 10 I...

My MPG readout does not work-Yamaha FMS

I have twin F225 Yamahas and there are two small sensors, one for each motor, that are mounted in the fuel line between the filter and the engine. One of mine quit working so I had readings the were half of what they should have been. Boat was new so Dealer replaced the faulty one. I was told...

    270 Islander

My 270 Islander came with twin Yamaja F225s and I'll never go back to a single engine. 6 adults, full bait well and cooler, 117 lb Chessie, about 20 gallons short of a full tank of fuel and about 25 gallons of water and I get 49.9 mph on the gps in fresh water and no current. I also get...

    Yahama Speedometer

I have twin 2005 Yamaha 225s. The pickup for the speedometer is in the lower unit. Is there any way to adjust it? Contunually reads a couple miles slower that the GPS and I'd like to sync them. I understand the difference between speed over bottom and speed through the water. Currents are...

    Battery Problem

I have an '05 Islander 270 with 3 batterys, 2 for the starboard and one for the port engine. I made the mistake of leaving the fridge on all week, no shorepower, and the 2 starboard batterys were almost dead and would not start the engine. I put both battery switchs on "BOTH" and, with the...
