    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

So...I contacted GW today about my stringers. I spoke with Danny and he said that on the older (70's - early 80's) Grady's, there were 1/2 stringers used. He recommended if I'm restoring the boat, he'd go with 3/4 inch stringers/bulkheads.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

I'll be contacting GW tomorrow to see if I can speake to someone. I'm also thinking about how I will be able to reconnect the floor when I cut out the fixed floor sections to inspect and change all plumbing/thru hulls. Earlier someone said I should customer large 'U' shape cuts witht he open U...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

So I went out and measured the stringers again. This time I took a measurement straight from the one of the pieces of a capped stringer. They are only 1/2 inch. I can't believe that they only used 1/2 inch. Has anyone else found this? I'm not sure what I should do. If I use 3/4 I think I'd...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

Aight, so I started buying my supplies. I choose to go with boatbuildercentral for most of my supplies. I'm going to check on my stringer thickness tomorrow as I'd like to pick up my wood at a local shop this week. I'm definatly going to get two sheets of 1/2 inch right away and start working...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

I think I want to go with poly resin but I dont see any on that boat building site? Is there a good place to get it. At this point I'm not doing the transom...I'm solid.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

I've made a couple different measurement on the stringers and everywhere I measure, I'm only getting 1/2 inch...I thought they would be 3/4 also but they are not.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

I've done some more work. Earlier this week, I got the gas tank all cleaned up. It actually look pretty good. There are a few spots that need to be welded. A little bit of corrosion but it's going back in the boat. I've almost got everything preped for the new main stringer to go in. I...

I'm ready to start ordering some fiberglass supplies. Where is the best place everyone has found? Should I just go to my local West Marine? Thanks everyone.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

The transom appears to be in good shape. I'm trying to figure out how to replace the rear bulkhead without tearing up the floor. I wonder if I should just plan on replacing the floor also?

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

As far as the rear bulkhead being rotted...how would one advise to tackle this? Do I gut the floor to get to the rear bulkhead and then I will be able to inspect the outermost stringer also -or- do I go at it from the back of the boat...do something similar to what it looks like when you...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

Worked on getting all the rot out of the port side stringer. The whole this is shot. Was very slow and took about 4.5 hours for me to get most of the wood out. Looks like my next step is to make sure I get all the wood out. Should I sand the remaining ply out? I also included a photo or...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

So, I've been back at it a little bit. I've got the gas tank out and staring to get all of the rotten wood out. Looks like I'll be doing main stringers and bulkheads right now. I'll update some pictures this weekend. What type of glass should I get when glassing in the stringers? I'm new to...

    Rebuilding Seafarer Cabin Door

Could you please post pictures of your cabin doors...I will have to rebuild my door. I think I have most of the pieces but I will have to template some pieces since some of the ones that I have are in very bad shape. Please include the top hatch to the cabin door as mine is missing so I'll have...

S.C. trailer trouble in VA DMV

Well the problem is... The trailer is a Shoreline (not in business anymore I believe), can't find a VIN please/sticker anywhere on the trailer. I do have a bill of sale that I made up when I made the sale but I did not write a VIN on it for the trailer because I can't find one. Do you think...

S.C. trailer trouble in VA DMV

I just purchased a boat/trailer from S.C (Pics will be up soon). I've got the title for the boat but was told in S.C. they do not issue titles for their trailers. I went to VA DMV to see what was needed from me to get the process started for me to title and register the trailer. They tell me...
