    Last of the 228

Perma grin is correct. Exciting part was, I ordered this in January and there were no 228's in the dealership. Everybody in this area had theirs shrink-wrapped. I basically bought this site unseen based on a 226 that's about 20 years old next to me in my slip along with memories of an old...

    Last of the 228

On Monday the new 228 was shipped to Marinemax in Oceanville,NJ. They left the shrink wrap on so the family and I went over and cut it off. Like opening a giant Christmas present. Here's a couple pictures of the unveiing. Today I went and met with the Martek electronics owner. We laid out...

Will do. Martek will be setting up the electronics. I got many ideas from this forum and will follow up with some pictures of the progress

Trimtabs - Magic Bill will be happy

Thanks for the response. Reading that the bracket could "feel" a little different in following seas. Something to get use to.

Just curious, MPG (or GPM) on a Marlin w/ twin Yamaha 300s?

My 228 is coming tomorrow. I bought the biggest boat I can fit in the slip I've had over 26 years. Yesterday I was looking at the brochures for the bigger ones. It would be nice to be able to take trips on the boat and sleep out etc. Maybe someday...

    Not my day, lower unit

I went online and found a can of spray paint matched a little 25 hp motor that we have on our 13 foot whaler. I just painted it so it doesn't look torn up but it doesn't really affect anything. It's more of an appearance thing

    Shade Cover

I am thinking about one for a new 228 to be used at the dock. I've seen several inexpensive ways to do it but as they say, cheap is cheap and not necessary good

    Not my day, lower unit

I was speaking of the motor mounts onto the transom/bracket. You should be fine. The bottom of that sceg has a lot of metal before it gets to anything that holds fluid.

Trimtabs - Magic Bill will be happy

Tomorrow we are going to cut the shrink wrap off our brand new 228 at the dealership. It will be the official unveiling. One of my anxieties is the bracket and trim tabs which neither I've ever had. I've read your posts and others about the following seas. I'm sure like anything else, I'll get...

    Not my day, lower unit

My thoughts are that as long as it didn't damage the bracket, it's only the lower unit. I've drug many of my lower units through the sand and the shallows of South Jersey. Good luck and let us know how you make out

    Vantage Sealant Protection

Thank You Fish. I always clean my boat and figure it's just an upsell. Just curious if anyone has had a good experience with it. I will go for the 3 year extended Yamaha warranty per the advice of the mechanic that services my old 2 stroke

    Vantage Sealant Protection

I have a 2021 228 that is set to ship tomorrow to the dealership. One of the options they are offering, just like a car dealership would, is a Vantage protection sealant. Supposedly you don't need to wax the boat for five years. The cost is $1600 and they do the interior and the exterior of the...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I came on here back in January when I ordered my 2021 228. Shipping date was supposed to be in June. Multiple delays but that is the way life is now. I've been in touch with Gwen at Grady and the boat is in production started on the 12th. They're waiting on my Yamaha 300 that should be in any...

A little bit of a Grady funk

I wanted a 22 back in the 80s when I used to fish with a friend of mine, Sealyon. We finished his boat out of Cape May for the bass in the spring and fall and my 208 overnighter out of Brigantine. We took that 22 to the canyon with five or 6 5 gallon jugs and dumped the gas in as we went out...

A little bit of a Grady funk

As you know, I have a new one coming in within 30 days, if all goes well. At first I was a little bit taken back, but at this point, I'm glad I've got it on the way. It's the biggest one to fit my slip, and easy to trailer to Florida for the winter. On top of that, I think this makes them all...

    226 Discontinued??

Thank you for your posts. I followed all of your progress in setting up your boat with the electronics etc. I learned a lot following this site and made some changes to the boat as we went on. After learning that the CL seven is actually a Garmin 7 inch and Will connect to the Garmin...

    226 Discontinued??

I was searching for a newer used 226 but they are just so hard to find. Where I keep my boat is a perfect protected spot I've had the slip over 25 years. The 228 should just fit. I originally went with the 250 hp but after speaking to a few people, I upgraded to the 300. The additional cost was...
