    Yamaha Fuel Management Guage

Yes..We just had our engines serviced two weeks ago. We were told the same thing...a small hole in the forward part of the port engine takes in water to calculate speed etc. They said if that clogs. you lose the reading. However, ours was supposedly cleaned and we had no mpg when we left the...

    Yamaha Fuel Management Guage

2005 Yamaha 250s with the round guages. My GPH works sporadically and MPG shows 0.0 continuously. The trip meter also stopped working. All three worked prior. Any ideas on where to begin? All the other guages work fine. Thank You......

    Yamaha F250

We have twin 250s on our Sailfish. They are 2005s. Just hit 700 hours. Had them in for service last week and were told "They're running perfect." We put 180 hours on them since last service in April 2014. They have been flawless.

    Yamaha F250

Did you get the Virginia boat? If so, then be happy and let it fly.....If that boat's condition is as it appears, you got quality that you'll be very very happy with......

    2006 sailfish 282

I looked up the 05 in Virginia. Looks really nice and seems to have a good history. You probably can't go wrong. Given we now have the Sailfish, our next step up would be to the 330 express. Paying a big chunk more for just two addidional feet just isn't worth it. Opens up new alternatives...

    2006 sailfish 282

When we looked about a year ago, the price difference between a Marlin and a Sailfish was significant. We ended up with an 05 Sailfish in great condition w/520 hours on 250s for $60k. We couldn't find a similiar Marlin for anything near that. We really like our Sailfish but a similiar quality...

    AC on 282 sailfish

Duly Noted. We didn't see a need for a CO2 detector prior but that would certinantly indicate if we're having any exhaust creep in from the generator......Thanks

    AC on 282 sailfish

Although we have an AC, we haven't really used it at all. The DC fan works fine for southern california. But we also have a 2000w generator. I'm curious where you position yours when you run it. We've been keeping ours in the walkaround directly behind the anchor locker hatch. It fits...

2005 Grady White 257 Advance - Livewell Pump

I did exactly that on our 2005 Sailfish. The original bait pump was plastic and noisy (before it died). I ran new hose from the seacock to a Jabsco Cyclone which I mounted on a bulkhead. It works fantastic. The Cyclone is quiet and runs plenty of water.

marlin or sailfish for extended stays?

We have an 05 Sailfish. It's fine for my wife and I for two nights...that's probably about the limit. We'd prefer the Marlin or more so the Express but the cost difference was too much for us. If you can afford it, go bigger. As much as we love our Sailfish, we still secretly wish it was bigger.

    265 vs 282

We have an 2005 282 but keep it in a slip. We're in Southern California so our overnighters are to Catalina Island, a 26 mile trip. I'm 6-1 and my wife is 5-7. The midberth can handle one of us at a time. Anyone taller than 6-1 wont be able to extend their legs. It's a comfortable spot with the...

282 Sailfish vs. Eastern Boats 27 Islander

Other than day trips fishing, our overnighters have all been to two harbors and avalon. Longest we've stayed is two nights. We bring a roll up inflatable that slides perfectly under the aft bench in the cockpit. We haven't run out of water nor filled the holding tank. We recently bought a yamaha...

282 Sailfish vs. Eastern Boats 27 Islander

We have a 282 in Huntington Harbor. Catalina in a pinch over an hour. Speedy comfortable ride. anything less than 28' is an immediate disqualifier. I say stick to your dream boat. Grady has the quality, reputation and value.

Sailfish 282 with Jabsco Holding Tank Macerator

We have an 05 Sailfish. When we bought the boat, the submersible macerator pump didn't work. It probably would have been smarter to redesign it and build an external pump but I went for a straight replacement instead. Figured it was easier that way. After removing the air conditioner, it's...

    sea water in bilge

We have an 05 Sailfish and had something similar. After about 20 miles of choppy seas with 6 adults on board, my wife noticed a "lose hose." Turned out the plastic deck drain elbow had cracked apart. Water was splashing in through the scupper since it's just above the waterline. Had to order a...

Honda E2000 Sufficient for Water Heater

Thanks Dennis.....and Duly Noted about exercising caution and safety. Thanks for the outline describing the potential hazards. Your post will definitely influence how and when we use it.

Honda E2000 Sufficient for Water Heater

Is the Honda E2000 generator sufficient to power the water heater on our 05 Sailfish ? I assume I can buy a power chord to run from the generator directly to the boat's shore power plug? Anyone use this set up? How well does it work?

    265 Express Livewell Questions

I assume it's like our sailfish and the light turns on when you flip on the livewell switch. Our light is accessible from the inside (rear panel in the midberth). May as well use the bait tank for something functional if you don't plan to keep live bait I suppose.
