HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Good point Seasick, I always wonder about the feeler gauge not reading right, but I always negotiate with my brain waves that if I can slide between the electode and tip with some resistance, I am good. However, angle is important. I haven't been able to find a wire gauge with the 1.5mm -1.6mm...

    Couple of motor bracket questions

Not sure I get what is going on with your drain plug. My bracket has a pipe thread type plug. I purchased replacement Aluminum drain plugs that are tapered. I use 3M sealant (removable) to ensure they seal. I tried the PVC plug and another type harder plastic plug, but they just don't do well...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Thanks Dennis, I am not actually questioning them as I am OCD on plug gap so know they are right per my feeler gauge. Just wonder the difference in those motors that have the narrower gap vs the wider gap when I have to add more gap to them which seems is always the case. Do you find the same...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

I was just thinking of some other item that could possibly cause a difference in the carbon buildup. Regarding spark plugs. I have been seeing some videos where folks just replace the plugs with factory gap setting and don't check them. I have always checked them and found them to be off per my...

    Sailfish Helm Area Upgrades?

Test a speaker in the area you are talking about and see if it interfer's with your compass. I found I couldn't mount speakers anywhere in the helm area without impacting the compass on my Sailfish. I put 2 trash cans in the sides, and my water fill is in the starboard side anyway, so need the...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Actually, I did the oil adjustments before last years season. Even after mechanics have checked a couple of different times, both times they said it was correct, but when I checked, it was not ok per the manual so I made the adjustments. Before, I would use more than 1 gallon per motor on this...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Seasick, in my case when I use 1 gal per engine on a long offshore trip trolling for hours on end, I burn about 100-110 gallons usually. Those are hard running as fast as I can stand and usually with bow down pushing the waves down with a bit of bow steer in some cases. These NC seas are always...

    Steering hose solution

I did and SeaStar Solutions helped me with the correct fittings to resolve it. I replaced my copper with new Kelvar hoses and helm when I installed my Autopilot. They were great to work with and knew exactly what I needed.

    Speaker options

Installed set I had in the hardtop down to the side gunnels. They sound great in this position and was an easy install. Have to keep them away from the helm as anywhere near causes interference with compass.

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Ouch Dennis! That is way more than even the Amsoil....lol. I go through 2 gallons each offshore trip. Amsoil compared with the XD100, but again, the additives would be different I am sure. Would be great to find out if anyone has used the 2M oil and does not have carbon buildup. Here is what I...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Yeah, I am in the same mode of thinking. Seems some engines have this issue and others don't. I have 2 and they both do the exact same thing. I use Startron and Ring Free Plus together. I started switching over to the new Marine Techron to see if it helps. Hard to say right now The only...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Hi Seasick, I have adjusted the oil linkages. They were off and I am saving a lot of oil last year. So I know that is not it now. The plugs burn pretty clean, never oily. They are the recommended plugs, same as what came in it. NGK BKR7EKU. I installed the new OXYGEN SENSOR DRAW TUBES...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

I use Ring Free religiously and still have lots of carbon. The O2 sensor itself is always clean. It is the chamber that is clogging up not allowing the sniffing to work properly for the O2 sensor to get an accurate sniff and make the adjustments. That is my theory so far. I just don't get the...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I had a dual console and loved it. But the walkaround to me trumps it by far! Ability to store gear, get out of the weather, etc. is valuable to me. I find it very comfortable down in the cabin as well! I can't imagine no Walkarounds. Was sorry to see the 28' size disappear which is the largest...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

The amazing thing is when I measure back 8' to simulate the length of the Rhodan, holy smokes, that is long! It comes from the bow back to mid cabin!

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

Doc, check "Out on the Reef" on YouTube. He mounted his just off to the left of the pulpit and I would do the same as he did on my 252G if I ever get up the bravery to go for it. Hoping to see some others out there that are taking or have taken the plunge and see their mounting options.

Bow troll motor for a 263

I would love to have a 96" Rhodan on my 25' Sailfish, but man, that is very long. I watched how "Out on the Reef" Youtube did it on his Parker 21 and think can do similar on the Grady....no bow rail removal or mod. Just push it out the 8' and then it can swing down into the water past the rail...
