    What are the Marlin differences...

Rod holders... Someone said that the redesign in '04 had three rod holders per hardtop leg....I wish they had continued that to '06 when they went back to two per leg. Check picture thread "New Marlin in Late March". Not a biggie though. My G/W dealer got me a great price on the hardtop rocket...

    fish finders

Fish Finder Arches.... Has the unit ever displayed anything suspended in the water? I can't recall the last time I saw fish arches that the unit wasn't in simulator mode....Just had this discussion with another charter Capt. a few days ago and we were joking about what a fish must look like in...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

G/W vs. Rabalo To me it does not matter what brand, what model, or what time of year it is...I'm not buying without a sea trial...period! I don't buy shoes without trying them on...I don't buy a new or used car without driving it first. Those folks who told you that "ride" was very important...

    Fix for Loose Screws

loose screws Another "fix" I have found was originaly a temporary fix but in truth it lasts a long time...simply put a length of tie-wrap into the rounded out screw hole and replace the screw. It functions like a nylok bolt and can be trimmed to be invisible.

Bottom painter in the Cape Canaveral area

Bottom Painter I dry berth my Marlin at Cape Marina in Port Canaveral and they do bottom painting on all sizes of boats...I've seen some very large Sport Fisherman painted as well as smaller boats. I'm no expert but the finish looks good to me. Give them a call at 321-783-8410.

    Maintaining new engines

Engine breakin Pardon the second post but I've just gone through the initial period with a pair of F250's....I think you should gather some input on using anything that is a fuel or oil additive during the first 100 hours. Those babies need to seat-in (another way to say break-in or seat-in is...

    Maintaining new engines

Flushing the F250 If you intend to flush those F250's with Salt-Away, I'd get a little advice from the dealer if it ( Salt-Away ) can be used on the non-running hose flusher provided by Yamaha. I say this because I, like you, believed in a good earmuff fresh water flush after salt water use...

    265 Express, adding outriggers

Side-Mount Outriggers I have a set of Lee Seniors and at 23 ft. they are a handfull... Fishing and open ocean operation is top notch ( you could drag a dead body with the single spreaders and never know it) where they prove difficult is negociating the ICW with it's short clearance bridges...

Grady White Owner Makes A Great Catch !

Does anyone know who the G/W owner was who rescued the two Bahamian Conch Fisherman 27 miles out of New Smyrna Beach (Ponce Inlet) on Sunday ? I just caught part of the story on the late news Sunday night...looked like a 28' Sailfish or perhaps a 300 Marlin. The Bahamians were adrift for four...

    Strange Vibrations

Strange Vibe's... I'd pull the prop and look for any mono wrapped around the prop shaft. This can cut seals and allow water into the lower unit for a lot of trouble to occur. Also drop out the lower drain bolt on the motor's foot and be sure to catch the fluid...you can see water if thats...

    GW Sailfish Fuel Tanks

G/W repower...Hondas? I currently own three Hondas...a 90 and twin 130's, and if I could have talked G/W into equiping my '06 Marlin with Hondas I would have owned five. To be fair, the F250 Yamahas are also trouble free. I own three Hondas for one simple reason...they work! The second reason...

    TR 1 Auto pilot

TR-1 Problems I have had a TR-1 Gladiator since mid-April of this year...no problems to speak of but I have heard that the installer has a lot to do with the success of the unit particularly when interfacing with multiple units. I would give Megabytes advice great merit since I believe he has...

New 300 Marlin in late March

300 Marlin in March Megabytes: Thanks for compliments...It was looking at pix of your boat and a few others that convinced me to sea trial a Marlin. Yes you're right that's a 6kw in the four foot width...had to move the anchor light back a few inches but it wasn't any big deal since the...

New 300 Marlin in late March

Took delivery of the "WarDance" in late March (07). She lives at Cape Marina in Port Canaveral on the dry bunks (so no bottom painting). This is her first launch and even though I know the Yard Bull is rated over 20K lbs. it still makes me nervous. First trip to the Gulf Stream and my...
