    Adventurer vs Seafairer

To answer your question, my F150 is a supercrew (4-door) so its a little longer than a regular cab. It also has a towing package and limited slip rear differential. The boat is close to 6k loaded with gas and stuff but the truck can tow 8,500lbs. She does just fine but I do live in Fl where...

    Adventurer vs Seafairer

This very website helped me make the same decision. In fact, I think i asked the exact same question. I loved both boats and they are very similar. I got lucky and found a 2006 228G that was brand new at a Grady Dealership in Aug of 2008. Zero hours were on it. I was able to go the 228G...

    Towing weight for Seafarer 226

I tow a 228 (bracket and hardtop) with a Ford F150. I towed it from Louisianna to S. Fla with no problem at all...

    The State of the Industry

This is a very sad but very interesting topic. So, does anyone know how GRADY is fairing through all this. Are there furloughs? Layoffs? Someone mentioned they are on a mandatory 32 hour work week. Is that true? I think they'll come through this but was curious if anyone knew anything.

    The State of the Industry

Has anyone read or heard how the Grady factory is doing? Have they had to go to furloughs or layoffs? I hope they hang in there. I am a new Grady owner but love the boat. They truly build battleships up there in Greenville.

    rear scuppers

At the suggestion of some of you, I contacted Grady customer service. I spoke with Jeff Brown who was very helpful and knowledgable. He told me to call the dealer closest to my home and to tell them that I spoke with Jeff Brown and that the work in question will, indeed, be warrantee work...

Noticeable lack of chatter on new boat purchases this year!

I just wanted to chime in with some good news amidst all the bad. I was able to find a "new" Grady 228 in Aug 0f 2008. It was a 2006 that was sold to me brand new from a Grady dealer. It was a leftover that just didn't sell due to the market. I really got a great deal. I would have never...

    rear scuppers

I hate to speak poorly of people, but I don't want you to think it was Mariner either. It was Pompano Beach Marine. I was told they have enough rich customers with 30+ft Grady's that they don't need my business. In fact, they actually told me that boats not purchased there get put in the back...

    rear scuppers

I appreciate all of the advice. I bought this 2006 228 from a Grady dealer in New Orleans as a 'new' boat in Aug of 2008. The warranty began in Aug of 08. I live in S. Fla and can not go back. I know several of you are probably wondering why I don't just go to the dealer nearest my home. I...

    rear scuppers

I have a 2006 228 and have noticed since new, water dripping down from the aft scuppers into the bilge. When the boat was purchased (as a new boat from a Grady dealer) I noticed it on the sea trial, so the dealer pulled the hoses off of the thru-hull fittings, gooped em up, and then put them...

    Help me Decide!

The Wahoo looks like its got one hot rod of a motor but inboards scare me. I'd go with the OB on a bracket. Nice boat, no drive shaft sticking thru the hull. Good luck either way... VinMan '06 Seafarer 228G

    Spare Fuel Tank Question

You folks have alot more experience than I do. I look forward to your advice. I was lucky enough to get a great deal on a 2006 228. I came with many options. One option is the additional fuel tank. The main tank is 96 gallons and the spare is 48 I believe. My question is.... would...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

Just a quick update... We went out fishing yesterday. Seas were two feet or less. My son and I slept on the boat the night before and then we picked up grandpa and went looking for a reef in 80 feet of water. The sonar worked great. We found the reef we were looking for and fished all...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

Thanks. That's something I won't have to worry about. This experience has taught me that there are things I can do myself. I was a pretty good auto mechanic. I've replaced water pumps, radiators, brakes, etc. In my house, I have never hired anyone to seat a toilet or replacy a faucet and...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

I just re-read your post Parthery. I never intended to solder the wires. I had to cut the wires to the old ducer because I can get it out. He used a two part epoxy that won't let go so its gonna live in my bilge for ever. I'm too chicken to get a hammer and knock it off. You can't see it...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

I used the old wire to pull the new wire but his wire was wrapped all around other rigging in the tube. I ended up re-fishing it anyway. The tube is only half full of rigging and wires. He should have had plenty of room. I think what happened was.....his fish wire got under the rigging and...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

Well, the new transducer came and it works great. After removing the livewell, I found that my highly recommended "professional" installer was a fool. Wires are torn and the transducer is epoxied to the hull at a 30 degree angle. A penny won't even lay on it without sliding off, it is so not...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

I went through the troubleshooting with Garmin. They were helpful. It is plugged in correctly. Checked and rechecked. I have a new transducer coming. If I plug that in and get a Sonar option in the menu, the Garmin is good. If I plug in another transducer and still no Sonar option, the...

    GPS, Sonar Problem

I finally had the electronics installed and took the boat out. The radio works great as does the Garmin 520s GPS unit. The only problem is I keep getting a NO TRANSDUCER/SONAR OFF message when trying to get depth info. The main menu wont even give me the SONAR option like the menu in the...
