Locating speakers under the rear seats does subject them to the elements. This is where they were when I bought the boat last November. Gary's location under the gunnel sounds a lot more protected.

I have a 2004 209 Escape, one set of speakers are under the Center Console, the second set....one under each rear seat. You have a similar engine area and rear seats. Picture below.

I know that bottom paint is needed if you leave the boat in the water. I was just wondering about Boat Value because I see a lot of boat adds that say ....."and No Bottom Paint!"

Tom, Thanks for that very thorough explanation. That really helps. Everything on a boat is so expensive. Including trim tabs. The R-3 Zincs I saw on the internet are under $10. I think I will go ahead and put on the zincs. Although the boat will be kept on a trailer, I will be leaving the boat...

Would someone mind explaining what a zinc does? I assume it is corrosion related since people seem to agree that zincs are only required if the boat is always/stored in the water.
