    Deep-Dropping - 07 Feb 09

Looks like you guys did good. Nice fish. The water was a little snooty down at Morehead too. Very impressed at the way the Sailfish handled it. Who is that in the background? HD

    New Marlin in the Family

Done a lot of landings. Only once did I scare the crap out of myself. Everyone else in the plane thought it was normal. Never bothered to tell them how close i came to losing it. Yep....look cool and stay cool while screwing it up. That way no one but the pros will ever know what you did...

    New Marlin in the Family

Sounds like I may need to sell tickets to the "Docking Show" . My little Overnighter taught me a lot about docking. But just like in flying were you move up from a single to twins (and a bigger plane), it never hurts to practice. The only difference is in a boat you can go slow (or...

    New Marlin in the Family

Congratulations on the new member of the family and some great questions. I too just pulled the trigger and am moving up from a GW Overnighter with a single 225 up to a Sailfish with twin 225s. Your docking question is of high interest to me too since: A. Seven more feet of boat to deal...

    Pulling the Trigger

Decent ones are hard to find. The dealer in Morehead told me GW didn't make the Islander anymore. I like the Islander cause my boat will have to live on a trailer. The Sailfish with it's 9'6" beam makes it a little over sized and in many states you would need a permit to haul it down the...

    Pulling the Trigger

Thanks Brian. The Islander I was looking at down in Fla didn't pan out. The guy never called me back so I moved on. This coming Wed. night sounds good. I'll see you then. Len

    Pulling the Trigger

Thanks Guys. georgemjr..Yes I'll be running the ICWW. Some of it does take you through the Pamlico Sound. All of these sounds around here can get crazy quick when weather sets in. I know cause I've been out in my Overnighter and had the joy of dealing with 3-4's trying to get back into the...

    Pulling the Trigger

Howdy Joe and thanks. Yes, I am a member of TGWC and yes I'm the "Carolina Connection" guy. I talked to you during the Christmas party about our Overnighters. I still love my little ship, but you now how it goes with boats....you're always wanting a bigger one  . I was also talking to...

    Pulling the Trigger

Thanks Edge. Good points that I'll put on the list. I do know there are marines along the way (Oriental, Little Washington, NC) and I’ll have them marked out on the chart for safe havens. I have Sea Tow on my overnighter and I’m going to see if I can transfer it to the sailfish. Insurance is a...

    Pulling the Trigger

Well guys...looks like I have settled on the "new to me boat". '98 Sailfish with twin 225 OX66s and loaded with all of the goodies. Got the deposit on her and if everything goes well I'll be bring her home soon. I was in the market for an Islander but not that many up for sell. I have a...

2nd year boater looking to upgrade to bigger boat with ?????

If the Islander I'm looking at passes the marine survey this Saturday I'll be putting my '91 overnighter on the market. I hate to sell cause I have really enjoyed this boat. But the deal on the Islander is just way too good to pass up and I don't need two boats. My neighbor across the street is...

    Overnighters with brackets

I have a '91 with the same bracket. Last winter took it off and had it sand blasted and powder coated. Also hung a 225 OX-66 while I was at it. So far I love what I've done to her. Now I got to fix the trim tabs so I can keep the pointy end down. Enjoy the boat. They are great little rides...

    Cleaning Gradys..

I guess I too fall into the "clean freak" group. That includes my vehicles. I flush the engine after each trip. Then fresh water wash down the engine itself, and wash/wax the cowl. I wash the boat also after every trip. I was tought by a professional car detailer that plain Ivory dish soap...

    "C-Time" Deep-Dropping on 8/24

Nice Catch and super pics Brian. If I had 2 engines I'd make the run to the canyon. Now that the vette project is over i hope to be getting out a little more for some fall fishing :D . It is about time for the flounder migration to start and already got a couple of trips planned to the Cape...
