    Marlin 300 transducer

I inherited the Airmar B744V Triducer on the port side from the previous owner. It is connected to a Garmin GMS22 or 24 (I forgot which). It seems to work well - unless it is < 5' with a really soft silty bottom.

    High Pitched Alarm Marlin 280

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but if you have a Garmin GPSmap, or something similar, that has an NMEA2000 interface, you could get a cable and hook your engine up to it. The Garmin gives much more information than the Yamaha gauges. I have 2005 F250s, so it should work on your...

    1989 grady white window seals

I just bought some replacement window seals for our 1996 Marlin 30 from: Marine Glass Specialties, Inc. Tex Vinson, Production Manager 7801 Colley Road Odessa, FL 33556 Ph: 813-926-3717 Sales@marineglassspecialties.com Tex has been very helpful and responsive. Also, FYI, he told me that GW...

Kill Switch Works... for only one engine.

Very good suggestion. I'll try switching them tonight and will let you know what happens.

Kill Switch Works... for only one engine.

Not a problem! I probably didn't explain it very well. Yes, that is correct. And, it was working as expected (neither engine would start, if the kill switch tab was out) last week.

Kill Switch Works... for only one engine.

@seasick, I think the issue is with the kill switch. I have never had a single kill switch for two engines before, so I don't understand how they are wired. But, if the kill switch has been pulled (i.e., the tab is out), shouldn't both engines be disabled, not just one of them? The port engine...

    Stripes

First, be prepared to have to sand the old ones off. I just tried to get mine off a 1996 Marlin 30 through conventional methods (the 3M eraser wheel and Rapid Remove), and it was a no-go. The blue layer of the vinyl came off with either, but the underlying adhesive layer didn't. I got my 800...

Just curious, MPG (or GPM) on a Marlin w/ twin Yamaha 300s?

In a Marlin 30 with F250s we just made 167 mile trip (dock to dock) and burned 140 gallons. The seas were 2-3' coming at us about 45 degrees off the bow. Average speed was about 26mph running 4200-4400 rpms. So, we averaged about 1.2 mpg, if I am doing my math right.

    "Bulkhead" between Fuel Tanks

I completely agree, @Uncle Joe. I patched the hole and corroded areas, just to get me through the summer. Even if I don't use the main tank anymore, I didn't want that little tiny vent filling the bilge with fumes. Not looking forward to the $$$ of replacing both of the tanks. If you have any...

Kill Switch Works... for only one engine.

Ok, so this one has me a little confused. Up until this weekend, the kill switch worked for both engines. Now, it only works for one. I.e., the port engine fires right up, when the kill switch is pulled, but the starboard one won't start (as expected). As far as I know, that is the original kill...

    "Bulkhead" between Fuel Tanks

Thanks, @Hookup1 and @seasick. So, I finally got to get back under the floor again this weekend... but for a different reason. When I filled up the main fuel tank (for the first time), there was a small leak. I thought it was the gasket at the fuel gauge sending unit, so I replaced it. The...

    "Bulkhead" between Fuel Tanks

Hello, We just got a 1996 Marlin 30 that needs a little love, so this will be the first of many stupid questions that I will ask! The Bulkhead/spacer that is between the two fuel tanks is totally disintegrated. (It is the thin board between my feet in the photo below.) It is glassed in to the...

1996 Marlin 30 Air Conditioning Questions

Pat, one other question. We are in SWFL. Based on your experience, is the 6500 BTU Mermaid big enough to keep the cabin cool in the summer down here? (I am less worried about heat in the winter.) The reason I ask is that our cabin is probably smaller than the average 30' boat's cabin, but the...

1996 Marlin 30 Air Conditioning Questions

Thanks, Pat. That is good to hear about Mermaid's service. There are probably a lot of good A/C units on the market, so I'd prefer to get one that has someone standing behind it. I'll look to see if I have enough room to put it behind the refrigerator. Not sure if I do on a '96, though. Thanks...

1996 Marlin 30 Air Conditioning Questions

Thanks, Dennis. I looked at the owner's manual, but I was hoping it would be a bit more specific. Agreed on it being easier to install it before the boat is put together. My biggest concern is the water intake. I wanted to make sure that it is somewhere that will get good flow whether we are out...

1996 Marlin 30 Air Conditioning Questions

I am in the process of buying a 1996 Marlin 30. Project #1 is to add an Air Conditioner. Two questions for 1996ish Marlin Owners: 1. What size (BTU) A/C Units do you have? 2. Where are the thru-hulls (intake and outtake) located? 3. Where is the unit itself located? A picture is worth 1,000...
