My 2005 F250's had the corrosion issues. You might want to have them scoped. If the engines fail it will cause more damage so you might want to have the work done before it happens.
Im not sure what the advantage would be to connecting your AP to the kicker alone. That would seriously limit your AP use. I would connect the AP to your outboard and then if you want to use it while trolling using your kicker, the AP will stear the outboard using it as a rudder. Then while...
Like I said..after what I went through I would probably pull the powerhead. When it happened to me I had the boat out the night before it happened.. She ran like a champ. put her away for the night and planned on going out the next day. Lowered the engines went to start and she struggled...
The only true way to know if you have a corrosion issue is to pull the powerhead and if your gonna go that far you really should replace the parts. If you wait and experience a failure it could cause more damage. When mine failed it destroyed both heads at $1500 each. Its a crappy thing to have...
I had a great year with the boat with the engines running perfect . Yamaha covered parts including the heads that got destroyed from the water intrusion but I had to cover the labor. My advise to all Yamaha owners is to at least have the engines scoped..I have a friend in the marina with an...
I bought the Heater Buddy to warn the cabin and helm a few years ago. It uses the small green tanks that you can purchase at a hardware store and one tank will burn for about 3 hrs on low. There is an adaptor available that allows you to fill the small tanks from your BBQ tank and you can also...
I asked Yamaha to give me a 1 year warantee on my engines after putting all this time, parts ,and money in my F250's. He told me there is no way to add a warantee after the 6 years were up. I hope you can get some better luck then I did.

LOL!! Gary..You are pretty much spot on.Might be a "Cult" thing  ... I dont think there is a "perfect" outboard out there. Im making this decission based on the time the Yammi 4 strokes have been out and how many actual issues there have been. The one main one that we all know about is...
I think there have been other F250's that have been victim of corrosion. Maybe not as many as the F225 but that may be because the F225s have been around longer. As you see more and more hours on the F250s you might see more effected by corrosion.
Like I said earlier I would have had the work...
I agree 1000%. I feel a lot more comfortable having engines with warrantee . I was talking to my yami dealer and he was saying there arent really too many guys that look to sell good running F' strokes. But there are guys looking to buy them. I did a search and ya should be able to get anywhere...
Thanks for everyones response. I havent heard back yet from my dealer but ill keep ya informed. Seriously considering a re-power when all this is resolved. Either new F250's or maybe F300's..I havent lost faith in Yamaha yet.

Thanks Nick. I will keep everyone updated. There is NOTHING you can do to prevent this or even see it coming. I was out a couple of days prior to when it happened and she ran like a champ. 2 days later I turned the key and the damage was done. Its a uneasy feeling not knowing if or when it could...
I wanted to share my experience with what im going through now. For all you F250 owners take notice. I had an engine failure when my oil pan and exhaust corroded causing oil to mix with water. Hoping damage was limited to just corrosion fell short when I just learned that the engine failed a...
I fell victim to the corrosion as well. All you F250 owners be aware you are just as vulnerable as any F225 owner. In my case the oil pan rotted as well causing water to mix with the oil. 5 Months out of warantee Yamaha offered to cover the parts but the labor is on me. The only true way of...
I Hope those props werent still spinning when that guy jumped off the hull. He couldnt pick a worse place to jump in the water :-|

I have 3 blade 17's on my F250's and I top out at 5900RPM's. Guess it all depends on weight too. Full fuel ,full water ,gen, A/C,life raft, prob another hundred lbs in gear and 4 adults.
