Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

Here's the drain I got for the fish-well. Like i said, it looks like it will work perfectly. It's even got the elbow built in. But what a piece of junk this thing is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found this on the net...

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

CD... I think what he's saying is that you shouldn't use 5200 on something above the waterline that you may have to remove at some point... such as the fuel coffin lid. Once it is fully cured, it is not easily removed. What sealant should be used on something like that? I've had good luck...

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

Taking a "regular" thru-hull to a grinder is what I've decided to do. I found a Perko drain that has a shoulder on it that is only about 1/4"... not the same size as the usual 1-1/2" thru-hull. I think it's acetal, not Marelon. I ground one down and dry fit it tonight... not too bad. I...

    Cabin Leak on 89 Overnighter

How bout your VHF antenna? Is it on the port? Mine was leaking through the little nut that seals the cable. Water ran down the wire and dripped at various locations along the wire. One other thing to check is the anchor locker drain. Not sure if an 89 is the same as an 86, but if it is...

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

Hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I need to find replacements for both my fishwell drains and my rear deck drains. I'm in the middle of replacing all my thru-hulls, which is turning into an entire re-plumbing job. The fish-well's I'm referring to are the ones on both sides...

    Overnighter thru the hulls

Buzz... since you have an 86 too, would you mind telling me what sizes the thru hull's are? Thanks

    rear scuppers

Sounds like you got it all figured out. What did you use for the deck drain? Anything other than standard? I like the clear hose too... I'm sure it helps to see if there is any junk in there.

    rear scuppers

Now that is a good idea. I'm definately going to do this instead of the PP balls. I wonder how it would work if you use a regular flapper scupper, then a little hose, then the valve tilted so that it's normally closed? Maybe I'll order the valves and experiment a little. Again... awesome idea!

    Glass windshield instead of Plastic???

What is the general diameter of the curtains when they are rolled up? I realize most of you have a larger boat, so your curtains are larger. Maybe the thing to do is come up with a better storage scenario & have my wife sew me up a "duffel bag" for them.

    rear scuppers

Interesting... never heard of that valve. Did you connect directly to a thru-hull, or was there any hose in between? What size valve did you use? Do you orient the valve perfectly horizontally or tilt it to keep the valve normally closed? Any photo's? I was just about to order some ping-pong...

    Glass windshield instead of Plastic???

Gradyfish... I've got a bimini top, not a hard top. The bimini folds down and gets stored in a boot/cover. The original front curtain was sewn to the top, which was a royal pain. It was constantly up there flapping around, and then was so wrinkly it was almost impossible to get it snapped to...

    Glass windshield instead of Plastic???

Thanks for the replies. My biggest problem with the "plastic," regardless of what type it is, is that storage is a problem. I dont use the curtains very often. I use the front curtain while running sometimes just to keep any spray off my face. I only use the side curtains in the cold...

    Installing new lowrance unit

Ah... Sorry, I misunderstod. DONT CUT THE WIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're going to have to drill a larger hole in the transom. Lots of different methods of sealing the hole... but you absolutely do have to seal the hole. Here's what i did and it's still good 3 years later. Overdrill the...

    Glass windshield instead of Plastic???

My eisenglass windshield exploded this winter... leaving me with a very cold ride home. It was old and very brittle. I'm still trying to decide whether to get all new curtains and top, or just replace the windshield. My side and rear curtains are in ok shape... just barely useable, but i...

    Installing new lowrance unit

Very Carefully! Dont you hate a smart a$$? Not sure what boat you have, but there should be rigging tubes on one side or the other. Getting wires from the transom to the cockpit is generally pretty easy. Follow the steering and control cables coming from the engine... they go through the...

    86 overnighter through the hulls

Thanks Bob! Dont know what size they are... boats at home & I'm at work. I'm not sure how they are measured anyway, I'll probably have to pull them out then match the size.

Who makes the chrome over bronze? I cant seem to find them on-line.

    86 overnighter through the hulls

I remember when I had my boat apart that you could "see" the thru-hull fittings through the hole when you remove the drawers on the port side. I think you could get to that one pretty easily... might need a sink faucet wrench though. On the starbord, you can see the fitting if you take off the...

Hull repair, paint & trailer adjustment questions

CD... I've been looking at the pics you sent me quite a bit. I think my final arrangement is going to be very similar to your trailer. I'm shooting for getting my rollers to within a couple of inches of the transom. Brian... keep trailer hooked to truck... got it! Just had a daydream of my...
