I repowered my Grady Voyager with a 300 E-tec and love it. There was several factors in my choice and one was weight. When repowering older boats the weight of the 4 stroke is an issue that should be considered.

I repowered a few months ago. Replaced a 225 Jonhson with a 300 HP E-Tec. The Johnson was great but loved fuel and a little hard to start. The new motor just touch the key and it is running. What I like is the 300 hr or 3 year no maintenance.

Picked up Voyager today and got more fuel numbers. At 4200 RPM 2.5 MPG Running 30 to 32 MPH. I had 2 extra batteries to 161 gal. fuel when started and 2 men. I am happy with these numbers as of now. Was having trouble with fuel used showing on gauge but the marina called E-TEC support and...

I test drove the Voyager today with my new 300 E-tec and was more than pleased. I got the fly by wire plus I-command gauges and I think I will love this set up although the sensitive so you have to be easy on the throttle.

I haven't replaced the fill hose but did replace the vent hose on main and aux. tank , you are right it was a bear to replace. I had to cut an access hole for the aux.one as it has a slightly larger O.D. than the orig. . The main was was much easier. Had I known how tough it was I would quit...

Ok I took my Voyager to the marina Wed. so it shouldn't be long before my new motor is installed. :D

Well this darn storm is going to put my E-TECH off a few more days. Due to marina being on gulf coast I have to wait a few more days so we can see which way this thing is going. %#%^&&$#@# :cry:

I have never be out on a Gulfstream and can't comment on them but everything I have read and heard they are great boats. I have a Voyager and can tell you I love it. Can trailer with no problem yet and legal. You just have to weigh the pro's and con's and decide which is best for your needs. You...

Thanks 4Grady! I'm sure Mercury Verado is a great outboard but one of the reasons I picked E-TEC is the weight. I need a 30 In shaft and the 300 Verado weighs in at 635 for the ligtest model,don't know what the 30"shaft weighs. I have also read great reviews and good customer service on the E-TEC.
