    Release 283 Electrical Problems

I've been thinking about this practically 24/7 since I left it on the rack. I cannot swear that this just started after I got it back from the dealer but I did not notice it until Saturday night. Playing the devil's advocate, If all power to the boat is shut down when the perko switches are...

    Release 283 Electrical Problems

Good thought, I'm not sure why they would have fooled with the wire on the bilge pump to replace the live well pump, but who knows? Another thing to check, thanks for the input.

    Release 283 Electrical Problems

Seasick: Thanks for your input. I do not know what kind of pump is in the boat but I "assume" it was the pump that was factory installed and the manual shows a separate float switch. The wiring diagram for the panel shows one power line coming from the fuse block that would explain why all...

    Release 283 Electrical Problems

I am going to check that out when I get to the coast this weekend. I think though, if the perko switches are off, there should be no power at the fuse blocks or on the pump switch. If I understand how its wired, the power for the manual bilge pump switches has to come through the perko...

Connecting upper and lower electronics boxes

I remember it being a little tight. Its been over 10 years but from what I remember, it was only the cable to the spot light and the antenna for the GPS. I had to remove the end of the GPS coax and replace it but I was able to pull both through with a wire. I did have to drill another hole.

Connecting upper and lower electronics boxes

I ran a couple of wires from the upper electronics box to the lower by running them out the front of the upper and wire tying them every 4 or so inches from that point to the post that runs from the hard top to the bulkhead that is just to the right and to the rear of the captains chair. I...

    New Grady

I just sold a 240 with a Grady bracket that I had for almost 14 years. Never had a problem with the bracket and like you, loved the extra space. I looked at a 26 ft Grady before I bought my 283 and it had less space in the cockpit than the 240 which was two ft. shorter. Congrats on the new...

    Release 283 Electrical Problems

Saturday night I put my 283 on my lift, lowered the engines and turned the Perko switches off. Before I got out of the boat, I noticed that the indicator light on the aft bilge pump was lit. I thought this indicated that the pump was running but I could not hear it. I put the switch in the on...

    268 Islander Hull Question

My first Grady was a 204 and after about three years I started having this problem. It started showing up from the bow to about 6 ft from the bow on the starboard side. For a couple of years the problem was limited to a few screws every now and then, which I repaired by backing them out and...

how often to get boat detailed....

We all dance to different drums. Makes the world and this website go 'round. You got that right, it seems that no matter what your preferences are, Grady has something that will satisfy you. BobP, I got your message and thanks for the information.

how often to get boat detailed....

I agree with Fishtales. I detail and wax in the spring before I put it in the water. This is in early April and from then to late November it hangs from a lift in the sun. I give it a good washing each time I use it and when I take it down in November. From December to April, I try to keep...

    Livewell on 28'3" Release

I knew you would love it, those 250's kick a**. You are comparing your hole shot to the 282, my last boat was a 240, powered by a 225 and this thing beats the heck out of it. I also compare it to a sports car. I put my VHF in the electronics box in the hardtop. I don't use it often and it's...

    Just testing my signature.

The codes were on but were disabled at the bottom of the profile screen. Now I need to make this picture smaller so I do not blow everyone out of screen space. Any suggestions?

    Livewell on 28'3" Release

I purchased this boat new and the owner's packet I received from the dealer has the pump information in it. The thru hull fitting on the outflow is origional also. This is not a big problem for me, just for the crew which sometimes includes my wife which makes it a big problem for me.

    Livewell on 28'3" Release

A partially closed valve would not restrict the water flow, when running or on plane, enough to harm the pump, even if the pump is on, I think! If I can adjust the valve enough to equal the capacity of the out flow tube, then this would be the same amount of water the pump would ordinarly pump...

    Livewell on 28'3" Release

That almost sounds too easy to work, I hope it does. My boat is at the boat doctor getting it's first 100 hour check-up and a new live well pump because the old one is making a lot of noise and not pumping much. I am going to pick it up Friday and will try this Saturday.
