    1994 Explorer repower

Owned a 1992 Grady 242G for years, came with a 92 Yamaha 225 and we re-powered with a 2000 SX 250. About eight years later the new owner re-powered with a 2008 Yamaha F250. When he re-powered the dealer suggested a new bracket as the Grady Drive was not in great shape and was holding water...

    Helm Seats

Our 2006 Marlin helm seat (starboard side) recently cracked at the base. In addition the armrests have not fit this seat properly since we purchased the boat used in 2008. Overall while the seat itself still looks pretty good, I'm not too happy with it. I'm strongly considering replacing the...

    Marlin 300 fuel tank advice

This time of year here in NJ we might go only about ten miles in a weekend to a local swimming spot and perhaps 250 miles the next weekend to one of the canyons for a fishing trip. As the seas are not always as predicted, I have a strong tendency to keep the forward tank full and burn the aft...

    Bennett Tab issue

I apologize for giving you bad information. Last weekend I replaced a failed Euro switch assembly on our 2006 Marlin and I all I had to do was remove the outer plate and remove four phillips head screws from the dashboard. Tom and the rest of the Bennett staff have helped me a few times over...

    Yamaha F200 report....

Those are some great numbers, is it the V6 or the new I4? How many of those miles do you think you were cruising (as opposed to trolling)?

    Bennett Tab issue

Pull the plastic "ring" that surrounds the two switches (may be called an escutcheon) . It will expose the four Phillips head mounting screws that fasten the switch assembly to the fiberglass.

Thoughts on bimini vs t-top for 17' whaler

I think the T-Tops in your link look pretty good. However, I think putting T-Top on a 17' Whaler could be a problem. It may cause stability problems, might eat up precious space on a small boat, anchoring the mounts could prove nearly impossible. Maybe others can chime in that have added a...

2004 Marlin Repower to 300 HP Successful!!!

Congrats on the new engines. Please post performance details when you get them. Many of us feel the 300hp engines would be ideal if we ever re-power our Marlins.

Shore power not working 300 Marlin

I agree with Journeyman, most likely the breaker tripped below the starboard gunwale (near the rod holder nearest the transom). Our battery charger is behind the aft bench seat, mounted vertically on your right after you open the access door.

    ProMariner ProSport 20 Generation 3 20 Amp, 12/24 Volt, 2 Ba

Re: ProMariner ProSport 20 Generation 3 20 Amp, 12/24 Volt, Please see the attached post from this site: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17074&p=109178#p109178 I ended up replacing my charger with a model made by Charles, no problems so far. Unfortunately, I do not recall the model.

Performance numbers for older 265 Grady

I've owned or have had family members own a total of seven Grady Whites. Every one of them would closely match the factory test, maybe lose a mile an hour or two. Every one of them was bottom painted but were very smooth. Remember, most boats are not loaded with options and electronics...

    gallons per hr 4.3 mpi

I know very little about I/O style engines but I found this link. If you look at the tachometer on the left side you can get an idea of fuel burn at different rpms. http://www.boat-fuel-economy.com/mercur ... us-gallons

    Marlin Stability

I always prefer to run off the rear (aft) tank first, once it's almost empty we switch over to the forward tank. The reason I do this is I believe the boat handles better with the weight forward, not aft. I also see a slight but noticeable reduction in handling when the water tank is filled to...

top speed 86 offshore24 with twins?

Had an 1988 Offshore with a single 1988 Evinrude 225 that was freshly rebuilt. If memory serves me correctly the boat would top out at 44 mph with light load. The boat had a bimini top and engine was mounted on the transom (no bracket), bottom paint was super smooth. I would expect about 46...

    Marlin Macerator help

Not sure this helps but I'll add my experience with our 2006 Marlin. My holding tank below the aft berth cushions was not emptying soon after I bought the boat (used in 2008). I learned how to replace duck bills on my pump. They are located on the side of the pump and not too difficult to...

Yamaha Fuel Managment - how accurate

On our 92 Explorer we had two tanks a 92 gallon and a 48? gallon. On many occasions we would run the 92 gallon tank dry and then switch to the auxiliary tank. According to our Flo-Scan gauge we would get between 87 and 90 gallons out of the 92 gallon tank. After running the tank dry at least...

Raising engine. Any 1st hand experience?

I raised our 2002 200 HPDI about a month ago from it's original location. Not sure it was 5200 or something similar (maybe 4200?) but it was not difficult to do. Used the trailer jack and a few blocks of wood, cut the caulk with some upward tension on it and it came right off. I intentionally...

    External Fuel Filters

It had to read "Randy's" posts three times before I realized you are not the same person. That being said, I have a 2006 Marlin with factory stainless base fuel filters. Mine are mounted to the bulkhead inside the aft bilge area, roughly three feet forward of the water tank, about 18" above...

How far is your average fishing trip from land

During the late spring and late fall we often fish within a few miles off the beach for striped bass. From late June until early October we regularly fish from eighteen to one hundred miles off the coast.

    New Jersey ICW

I have only run the Intercoastal two times, both times it was from Waretown (southern Ocean County) to Atlantic City and back. I have not been too fa south after Sandy hit. That being said, there was plenty of water at both low and high tide when I went. As I recall, it was actually a nice...
