    Tilt and trim seals

Forget all of those fancy spanning tools and homemade concoctions. Been there done that. Just use an AIR CHISEL. Buy new caps. You are done. Let the tool do the work and stay away from the rams. It’s so simple and will work no matter what. I wish I started out using that before failing with the...

Direct replacement for Guest remote spotlight on 1998 Gulfstream

My Guest M100 remote spotlight on my 98 Gulfstream seems to have broken. It sounds and feels like the gears or friction plate have broken inside the unit. Before people start telling me to use a handheld spotlight I want to be clear that I am looking to replace this unit with another remote...

    Gulfstream e-tec 300 G2 performance

Thank you very much for the summary. Now only if they weren’t so darn expensive!

Covering Plastic Headliner with Carpet (Monkey Fur)

Very strange for a 2001 model year gulfstream to have that color plastic. I know they switched from carpet headliners to vinyl sometime in early 2000s but I have never seen one of that color. I recommend spraying it. An ivory color would look good and it will last a while being that the area...

    Cleaning Fuel Tank Top

As recommended by another member here, spray some simple green on there and let it sit for a few minutes. I also agitated the dirtier areas with a scrub brush. Then hose off and you should be happy.

    Fuel tank project is complete

Agreed. I just learned the hard way after having my deck recored and trying to install it only to be cursing myself as half of the screws just spun in place. It seems like a ridiculously poor idea by Grady for the construction of the floor where the deck attaches as it is so so thin. This is on...

Redid my cockpit carpet and wood

I just finished reinstalling my new cockpit carpet as well as painted duratrim. Makes my 98 gulfstream look new! Super happy with the results. No more ugly faded wood color.

    Replacing GW Switches

It’s the factory “duratrim” material from 1998 that had the light colored wood grain look to it. I think it’s some sort of composite board. Not easy to cut for my GPS location but I made it work. The material is matte navy vinyl wrap I bought off eBay for $10 bucks.

    Replacing GW Switches

Yes they are the blue sea labels. They didn’t have exact verbiage I was looking for but close enough.

    Replacing GW Switches

Just put the switch panel back in. Happy with the results for such a cheap refresh, just waiting on my Speedo gauge to get back from gaugesaver.

Need small section of hull striping

I am looking to replace a small section of the hull striping on my 98 Gulfstream. Approximately 5 feet. The remainder of the striping is in very good shape and I’m confident it will blend just fine. Does anyone know where I could find this small of a section? Looking at eBay it seems they only...

The same manufacturer but a different color. I used a matte navy color.

    Replacing GW Switches

I opted to go for a navy vinyl to bring some blue into the dash to match the canvas. But “Rvinyl” on eBay sells 5 foot sheets for about $10 and they have all sorts of colors/patterns including a carbon fiber look.

    Replacing GW Switches

Quick update: I think the vinyl is going to work out well. I’m using an old scratched up piece for a test run and I like the results. Pretty good for a $10 dollar facelift. Hardest part was cutting the duratrim for my new simrad. I’ll post an update once everything is back in the boat.

    Replacing GW Switches

Exactly my thoughts as well. I am going to go ahead and give it a shot. I’ll provide some pictures when I finish it.

    Replacing GW Switches

Most of my old switches actually do have illumination so I don’t think the wiring would be too much different. I appreciate the photos and the help. I may try and just vinyl wrap the ugly dura trim panel and keep the old switches in place until I get the extra $$ to make the change.

Need to replace transom hatches on Gulfstream

It wasn’t standard back in 1998. I Only have a tach and a Speedo with no capability for fuel consumption data using those two gauges alone.
