On my 283 Release CC this switch raises and lowers the electronics box on the console. Maybe they used the same switch plate for the 273 if you don't have this feature.

I need to replace the rods in my 283 Release. they are buried deep in the forward bilge. Not easy to reach............ugh

I moved up to a 283 Release CC last year (2005 model). I love this boat! Wide beam, runs great in the ocean. Like any other CC with the wind in the right direction you will get spray. I am a firm believer that bigger is better.
