    Hour meters

Anyone can hook up a hourmeter. As a matter of fact I am installing one for each engine in my boat now. I had the engines scanned and used a deep cycle battery to run up the time the scans recorded. THing is if the seller isn't an honest person they can stop the clock whenever they want. I...

    Leaking Trim Cylinder

Sorry to butt in but... my strbd tilt motor runs slower than the port side. Do you think it could be the valve or motor going. My marina said the unit is bad @$1200 but I don't think they troubleshot it.

    Irene Reports

Boat was fine since I pulled it but I believe the Philadelphia area was hit harder than Jersey. I live in the suburbs and we lost power about midnight. About 12:30 the water was starting to come in the basement. I grab my extention cords and headed for the nieghbors generator. With sump pumps...

Irene- To haul or not to haul

Just hauled mine today. My marina was hauling boats all day and I would be surprised if any were left in their slips. Here is the bad part. My son locked my keys in the truck at the ramp. We had moved out to the rigging station (thank goodness) and I took the keys from the ignition and put them...

    New Jersey Coast trip

The bride's family has a house on the lagoon in Ocean City. These people are just the nicest folks you could meet. I actually docked at their neighbor's house. As I arrived the neighbor greeted me by tieing me up and offering a hose to flush the engines and wash the boat, drinks and the head if...

    New Jersey Coast trip

Just a follow-up to my trip. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous out there. We made good time at about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Stopped at Barnaget for about 10 minutes to talk to my neighbor who slips his boat boat there and was fishing out front. Also stopped at A.C. to see the new Casino they are...

Excellent! Much appreciated. I guess I could always run on one engine which should put me right inline with the curve> :)

    New Jersey Coast trip

Thanks Brian! By any chance do you have that chart handy to give me the Coordinates to the Great Egg Bouy? My charts are on the boat and I am not at the shore right now. I'd like to plot the course at home if possible. Thanks again,

    New Jersey Coast trip

This Saturday, weather permitting, I have a wedding in Ocean City, NJ. My slip is in Belmar, NJ. Has anyone taken this or a similar trip and if so, can you give me an estimate on travel time? I will be entering Great Egg inlet and docking at the soon to be bride family's home. Any tips are...

    HOORAY!

I don't usually have to login. I wonder if your computer updates has the box clicked to delete password memory while it performs its "behind the scenes" tune-ups? I'm sure it has a better technical name. I am by no means a wiz but I remember seeing this option in the advanced tab in one of the...

    Tow Vehicle for Grady 258

I am pulling a 2000 Chase with an 2010 Ram hemi 5.7L. It is rated for 10,250lbs has 390HP and 410 ft/lbs torque. It handles the boat very well with plenty of power to merge into traffic on the highway. The brakes are 4 wheel oversize discs and stop flawlessly. Only downside is it likes its fuel...

    charging house battery

It should be very easy to check and see if the house battery is charging while running the engines. Turn all switches to on. Get a multimeter and set it to DC volts. Positive probe on the positive terminal of the house batttery and common probe to negative terminal. Check voltage. Should be...

    Perko Navigation Lights (lens)

I just replaced my compete lamp assys because they were inop and corroded. The Perko numbers are 253(R)/(G) if they are the two mile separate NAV lights. They are a bit pricy though. I paid 32 bucks a piece for them. You can punch the number into their website and it comes up. Your Grady dealer...

Help Find Old Post re: Stuck screws on 265 dash panel

The original fasteners (inserts) in the dash panel are called rivnuts. Grady installed Aluminum rivnuts which are fairly common in the aviation industry. The screws I believe are black oxide finish. Fortunately I work in the aviation industry and we stock SS rivnuts. I replaced all mine which...

    Frozen Outriggers

I had the same problem with mine. I tried everything to loosen them up but nothing worked. I finally had to cut the pin and disassemble them. I called rupp and they do have parts available. Stinks that you have to ruin them to get them out but the new clamp assys are like 70 bucks. I think the...

    Canvas Project

Looks good, nice job! I have the vise grip style snap tool and IMHO it is the only tool when installing snaps in quantity. I just asked for a quote from Great Lakes today for my canvas t top. I hope they have the template.

should scupper's exterior be bottom painted?

x 2 If they are at or below the water line, you don't want the rubber flappers to get fouled and not close properly to keep the water out. Just my two cents.
