i have had both engines, and the fuel burn will be very close, the 4 strokes with be much more quiet and less smoke and no gas smell at all. The 4 stroke will be a lot more doggie and slow out of the hole. The 4 stroke might be much better trolling at low speeds tho and last a lot longer...

the only problem with going with 4 strokes with your hull is that it will pull your stern down and your scuppers will be down low. The 225 4 strokes are about 100 pounds more weight then the 200 hp HPDI'S.

if its not the batterys, it could be fuel problem, and your port engine could be picking up stuff from the tank as its the lower pick up. Sounds like its a ground battery problem to me tho.

i owned a 1990 24 offshore and it pounded bad in any kind of chop. I liked the boat for the bay tho. If you plan on any kind of ocean rides, get the 25ft sailfish.

Thats what I have done with my 265 and its awesome. Works great in the helm box to the left side and I still have room on the right side with a top and bottom door to the right. My Furuno is a NAVNET VS2. I would hate having it in one of the two above boxes.

I had the 1990 model with a Yamaha 225hp, nice boat and the 225 was good power for that boat. It did not have the SV2 Hull and it did pound in a head sea. It will be a wet ride and a pounding ride in a 4ft sea.
